Question new computer set up problems

Hey there, I recently just hooked up my new computer and I tried to download limewire. It seem to download sucessfully but then when I click the icon on my computer it begins to initialize but then stops and nothing happens. I am really fruistrated and not the most comouter literate person. If someone could help me get my limewire back on my new comouter, you will be my new best friend Thanks!

I'm a bit confused...do you mean that LW won't install? Or has it installed ok but now won't open?

If installs the prob, this might help:

If it won't open, follow the links here:

(some of the fixes are probably the same for both probs)

Did you get the program from www.limewire.com ?
(If it's a scam version it might not work properly)

Hopefully the following instructions will help:

1) Create a separate folder/directory on your C: drive, e.g named "Download"

2) Download Java and LW into this new folder/directory.

3) Delete your current installation of Java and LW, remembering to delete the folders, and all that remains in them, that were created by the first installation process.

4) Reboot your PC, a cold reboot is preferable to a warm reboot.

5) Go to your new folder and start the installation process of Java from there. Java will unpack itself and create it's own new folders.

6) After Java has finished installing itself reboot your PC, Java, at this point, may ask to reboot your PC anyway.

7) Go to your new folder and start the installation process of LW from there. LW will unpack itself, create it's own new folders and integrate itself with Java.

8) After LW's installation reboot your PC, LW may ask to reboot your PC anyway.

Your new installation of LW and Java should now work without any further difficulties unless you now have to reconfigure your firewall.

Hope this helps.

I've been having the same problem and I still can't figure it out.

I followed what ukbobboy01 said, but it still did the same thing at start up.

Any other suggestions?

I'll try my best.

So I have the newest versions of Java and LW installed. I go to open LW, click the icon, and it starts up.

Well, just the loading screen pops up, you know, before the interface pops up. And then it turns white. And my computer seems to bog down, like it starts to crawl, almost like its going to freeze. LW does load, but its so slow and it makes my whole computer choppy that I just control alt delete it, thats the only way to close it after it starts slowing down my computer.

And I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, and it still does the same thing. And I tried what you suggested, and it didn't work either. I even tried installing different versions of LW and Java, still I get the same problem.

I also tried closing some of my virus and anti-spyware programs to see if that was causing it, but it still did the samething.

I don't know what else to do.

How much ram memory have you got on your PC, how big is your HD, how much space is free and finally how fast is your CPU?
