Default Cox High speed internet and Limewire

So, I got Cox internet about a week ago, and since then I have not been able to use Limewire at all. I have tried most of the fixes that I have found on the connection boards, except for the ones that sound kind of dicey.

My problem is that I can no longer connect at all. I have disabled all the firewalls, set the ports to what Limewire wants me to do, unplugged from my wireless, and gone direct from the modem to the computer, and nothing seems to work.

I am running windows XP, and I have read some things on here that says Cox doesnt support these programs at all. Cox wouldnt help me out with this, and after a week I'm seriously considering canceling my membership.

If anybody in the Northern California area that uses Cox cable can help me with this, I would be very grateful. You would probablhy even be my hero for at least a week or so. )

Thanks, and any info would be very helpful. This is kind of starting to **** me off.

Well, limewire was fun while it lasted.

I get the message that it cant connect to the network, or that I dont have a active internet connection. Or that a firewall is blocking it.

I know its not the internet connection, so that leaves the firewalls. Windows is turned off, and im running through a wireless router, so my last thing to try will be running a cable straight from my modem to my computer.
