When i start up my computer, limewire starts up by itself. if i turn it off it will start up again within 5 seconds. it won't go away, i've tryed everything i know. Even when i disconnect people are still sharing my files, it makes no sense.

If you haven't already I would go to Options: Connections - under connections uncheck "Connect on Startup". From that point on when you start the app you'll have to go to File: Connect. Also take a look under Options: Advanced: System Startup - uncheck the "Run on System Startup" box. Again, only if you haven't tried this already. Don't mean to insult your intelect.

If ELoXL suggestions don't work then it is probably a virus. See these two threads:

thanks for your help. i went to the first link with 6 pages and found many people with the same problem. dont have winupdate.exe on my comp, wish i had, people with this problem seemed to fix the problem. its either a virus or i zip file i cant find.
anyway went to ZoneAlarm and disconnected LW. now it doesnt pop up at least. i'll have another look tomorrow.
