Default Problems Connecting

I am having problems connecting to Limewire. I am using a cable connection through Netcommander it is the 3 Mb/s tier. My computer is using Norton's Internet Security which has Limewire configured for full access and I have the Windows firewall turned off. My router is a Network connections and is setup for UPnP. I have also tried port forwarding that has not worked. After trying many off the fixes through this site I decided to bypass the router and plug straight into the modem and Limewire stilled showed a firewall and Limewire stilled didn't work.

The strange thing is Limewire works on and off so I don't know what the problem is. I mean if my ISP blocked P2P programs then Limewire should never work.

Help would be appreciated.

Did you turn Windows XP firewall off?

Have you checked for a firmware update for your Network Anywhere router?

The firewall detected will either be your software firewall or your modem/router. Are you sure your modem doesn't also have a NAT firewall? What brand & model is your modem? And what model is your router?

Try changing the listening port to one between 49152 - 65535 such as 64049. ie: LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls

You don't run a proxy do you?

Where are you trying to connect from: home, school, work, etc. ?

Who is your ISP?

Several of the questions you asked were answered in my first post.

I updated my firmware as of yesterday.

I have turned Norton off and I have my computer connected straight to the modem.

I am not running a proxy.

I am connecting from home.

I am guessing it has a firewall in it since in the product brief it says filters. It provides a secure, Shared Internet access

I don't know if this applies to you or makes any difference, but are you aware of this http://www.terayon.com/tools/static_...d=100&cat_id=8
Drivers & CherryPicker upgrade. I'm not sure if that's relevant. Checking the FAQ there doesn't seem to be a web page for your modem (here) despite the profile saying the filters are user configurable.

You say LW works on & off, then there is a chance your ISP is filtering at certain times of the day. Some do this. Generally during peak periods that business would also use the service. Some isp's need to juggle their ability to cater for all. After all, their biggest income is from business.
