See if you can find the model somewhere. See the jpeg below, these are the Gateway models listed on portforward.com's page. Yours might be one of them:)

Ok, I think you're talking about a modem within the computer, rather than an external modem that plugs in to your computer. Might have to ask some other people to look at this thread!
Stay tuned....;)

I think you are using an internal modem. I doubt it has a firewall in it. Have you called your ISP and asked if they block or filter P2P networks. Also are you running any of the new Microsoft Beta security software. Does your ISP supply a firewall with your service.

Edit: I did a Internet search of your ISP the page said they supplied one type of protection against viruses. Ask them if this protection is a firewall.

i havent talked to my ISP yet but i will and i will get back to you on that but i dont think it is a firewall because there are rare occasions where my limewire will connect for a few minutes and the firewall icon disappears i dont know if that is revalent to this problem but maybe and i dont think i have any Microsoft Beta security software, i usually dont have anything that is beta.

There are patches you can download for SP2 to help with connections.

You said you had turned your firewall off, but have you configured it in any case to allow LW? Configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)
