Firewall frenzy!

Well guys, I've tried checking all my ports and access points, etc., etc, and no luck. This just started out of the blue three days ago with no provacation. Since my computer savvy only goes so far (and that isn't far at all!) I'm at a loss.

Are you fully connected (how many green bars)? Can you use LW as usual, apart from seeing the firewall or isn't anything working?
If you're not connected, do this test
http://www3.limewire.com:6346

What are your details (sorry for any repeat questions!)

OS(Win XP etc)
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc)
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW

it still won't connect :( i get the little green block saying it's connecting so i can't get any search results.

Firewall frenzy!

All of the bars are turbocharged blue. If I search for something I can download it but I can't seem to get any of the things that have stopped mid-download to restart. Also, where I used to get MANY people who were downloading from my site, I now get very few.

Dell 4600 P4 3.6 GHz
Win XP 2000 Home
1024 MR DDR SDRam@333 MHz
258 memory
cable connection

zdevon,
Clear the inactive downloads from the download window, go to your Incomplete folder, highlight the file & click Resume (don't do this for too many downloads at once). If there are sources online, with free upload slots, sharing that file, your download should resume. Sometimes though, it's just easier to search again.

If you're not seeing many uploads, means that not many users can push through your firewall. You are still firewalled??
Try & answer the rest of my questions in my last post;)

Crazynut989,
Is there a specific model on your router (eg WRT54G)?? How did you have it set up when things were working - did you have UPnP enabled or were you port forwarding? I think some Linksys models have more success with port forwarding. Is the other computer using LW & if so, do you see the same problem?

Crazynut989 July 12th, 2006 08:20 AM

everything is set the same way it was when LW was working. It just randomly stopped connecting. First it took 3 hrs to connect at all and now it just doesn't connect. My other computer doesn't use limewire .

fRANTIC fIREWALL FRENZY!

I've tried all the advice I've been given and STILL I have my firewall up! I'm getting no downloads at all and only about 5 uploads. I've reached a point where I don't even want to deal with LW any more. Does anyone have any SOLUTIONS??? I'm tired of suggestions.
Sorry for the outburst, but it is very frustrating not being able to use LW as it is intended. ANY help is appreciated.

Can I ask you again??

OS You said "Win XP 2000 home"... do you mean Win XP or Win 2000?
LW & Java version (help > about LW & you'll see)
Firewall you're using
Modem/router brand & model
ISP
Connection type (DSL etc) We know it's cable
Where you connect from (home, school etc)
Are you sharing a connection with other computers
Is this your first try with LW We know it's not

Connection problems are trial & error... what works for some people doesn't always work for others! There's not one simple solution;) All that people can really do is suggest fixes to try!

Do you still have a turbocharged connection? As I asked you before, how do you have your router set up... are you using it with UPnP enabled, port forwarding or neither of these?

Have you read this sticky? It addresses firewall problems. Have you double checked that your software firewall's configured properly? You'll find info about internal firewalls within modems & routers also.
Connection problems? Check here first!
