On whos part? It works fine for me and thousands of others.

Since all I did was download the program already created, you decide. Regardless, the problem exists and won't go away by its self. I've checked and rechecked my firewall settings, called my ISP to see if they are blocking P2P, checked my priorities. What did I miss? The longer this goes on the more frustrated I become.

Hi zdevon,
You've contacted your ISP & seem to be fairly confident that they're not causing you a problem. So the firewall issue must be coming from within your setup... logically it's either a software firewall or an internal firewall within a modem or router. I asked you twice in your earlier thread to give your system details but you didn't answer all of my questions!
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=58333

Hobo asked you again in this thread to answer all previous questions & still you didn't! How on earth can anybody help you if you don't give information? If LW is detecting a firewall from within your modem or router, you will have to tell us what brand & model you have. There is no crystal ball. Are you using just the XP firewall or something else (like ZoneAlarm or Norton)? Are we supposed to guess?

If you're getting all green connection bars, just not 'turbo', I would worry about that later. At least you have a reasonable connection... concentrate on getting the firewall off for now.

Birdy,
In my SECOND reply in this thread I gave all the particulars of my operating system, at least all I know. I may not have mentioned that I am using Symantic (Norton) security which I have configured to accommodate LW (then reconfigured just to be sure). To make things even MORE interesting, now LW won't maintain a connection. This started today! Let me know if you require any other info. I'm not sure if I have the technical savvy to have the answer, but I will try.
Dell 4600 P4 3.06 GHz w/HT
Win. XP 2000 Home
1024 MR DDR SDRAM@333 MHz
258 Ram
Roadrunner modem, model DCM 245

Hope this will suffice.

Birdy,
I did answer your questions as to my system specs. Was there something I missed? If so let me know so I can give you the information you require. LIke I mentioned, this problem started when I downloaded the latest version of LW. Up till then everything was absolutely great. So, let me know whay else you need, if you would.

Do you have the XP firewall disabled? XP's firewall will conflict with Norton's firewall & so it should be disabled.

I can't find any info about your modem having an internal firewall but most do. I think your modem supports UPnP, have you enabled it & chosen that option within LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall config? If not, try it & see.

Do you have a router as well? If you do, we'll need to know the brand & model.

Like I said before, can't find any info about an internal firewall within your modem or any info about port forwarding for the device. Have a look in your manual & see if you can find anything out.

Birdy,
I have my xp firewall turned off and my norton firewall configured to accommodate LW. As far as my modem goes, your guess is as good as mine. It's my cable company's property. I don't have a manuel for it. If I were to delete the latest version of LW and reinstall my 4.10.3 v. , would i recover all my downloads? I'm getting pretty fed up with this new version.

Providing your saved folder is still in a safe place (the default location is C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Shared). They're safe anyway, just as long as you haven't moved them to some strange location where they might be deleted if you uninstall your current version (some people have put their saved folder in weird places)!
I've gone back to old versions before & never had any trouble.

Files awaiting download

Birdy,
If I change back to a former version of LW I'm more concerned about losing the files awaiting download. I have already depleated the shared files in my computer. I only have about five files left there. Do you know if I will lose the files awaiting download or will I be able to retreive them? And if I haven't thanked you for your help before now forgive me and accept my thanks at this time. I truly do appreciate your help.

If you back up the .bak & .dat files (you'll need to back up both, save them in a safe place) in your incomplete folder, you should be able to copy them into the new incomplete folder (when you revert back to the old version)... that should let your incomplete downloads resume from where they left off.
I haven't had to do this myself but from what I've read... if you lose the .dat & .bak files then your download will have to start from 0% again:(
