![]() i guess it doesn't help that I'm not very computer-literate. BUT.....that little brick wall shows up on limewire, and I've done EVERYTHING that limewire says to rid myself of this firewall. I don't know if there's a secret one somewhere or what, but every download I try ends up saying "need more sources", and I think it may be because of that firewall. The green status bars are a faded green....it looks like they're green, but maybe not lighting up....((if that makes ANY sense at all...)) i've searched google for an answer and done everything possible....i go into networkl connections and it says that i don't have a firewall set up. But i really don't know what to do. some guy came to fix the computer the other day, and he may have done something to it.....is there any way to fix this? i need my limewire... and i don't know if this has anything to do with this, but my AIM doesn't connect either now. And that **** computer guy said that limewire and AIM were BAD and i bet he rigged it so that they couldn't be used anymore. SOMEBODY SAVE ME!!! |

![]() Can you give us a total description of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)? 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 12. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? ![]()

![]() Okay, most of the Westell routers come with built-in firewall, for example the one here: http://www.adslguide.org.uk/hardware...estell2410.asp So, my advice for you now. First thing to do is to download the newest LW from here (4.12.4, has just been release, 1-2 hours ago): http://www.limewire.com/ And don't worry if the website still says 4.12.3 is the latest version, it ain't. Then uninstall LW and all your Java. Reboot. Then download the newest Java version from here (1.5.0_07) using the JRE offline installer: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp Install the Java, reboot and then install LW. Then you come back here and go to this thread, which explains how to configurate firewalls: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=51361 In general, after having the internal firewall configurated to let LW access the network, you will need to give LW some time to settle down. Can be anything from 2-60 minutes.... And if you still have problems after all that, then come back here and we go from there...... ![]()
