![]() i have checked the port, and it's open. i have uninstalled and reinstalled it 13 times now. i have uninstalled and reinstalled java 4 times now. i have tried running earlier versions of limewire (starting at 4.9 to present) all of them freeze at set up dialog box. i have tried frost wire and it doesn't respond at all. i have changed the limewire setting to 2000 and that didn't help. i have deleted any folder or file that had the word limewire in it. i went to the documents and settings to delete those files (hidden files were shown). i'm running xp home edition (on my home computer). i'm have mcafee security center and the firewall says it has access. I have 9.38 gb of used space and 139 gb of unused space. i use cable (charter), with a wireless linksys router (srx 400) i'm directly connected to it, however my dad uses the wireless internet for his labtop. we don't share any info. at all. i tried running java 1.6 beta, that didn't work so i ran 1.5 with all the updates. this is not my first time with limewire as i already said up until friday it was working fine, then i had to update it because it started freezeing up on me. p.s. as a side note i can't get anything media related to work. as in i can't get windows media player to play videos or stream them off of websites, or watch any sort of video or music file i did not personally put on their from a cd. i tried to use youtube yesterday just to check if it was all websites or just filecabi and the error message i got said that i might not be up to date with flash player (which i deleted and reinstalled several times just to make sure i had it) or i had some how turned off java. i'm about to kill some one so for the sake of those around me pls help. |

![]() Uninstall both Java using add/remove programs and Limewire using the uninstall file Then try this Java. Download the offline installer (I have used this version for the last 10 or so versions + It fixed it for someone else having similar problems) http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_xpi.jsp Then install Limewire again (also using the offline installer) www.limewire.com Also incase Limewire won't install this time either try to turn off all antivirus/spyware and firewalls while installing. You can just disconnect from the internet if you do not feel safe doing this Last edited by Sleepless; September 4th, 2006 at 10:11 AM. |
