Have you tried to portforward your router. The link below is instructions for portforwarding your router it does have a firewall in it.

I called Aliant who are my service provider and they told me my 6520 Sieman router does not have any type of fire wall , I was wondering this as the other 2 computers that my son's have are using this same router , they are having no problems using LW. the only difference is that they are using XP and I am using Vista. When I looked at my router it did not match the Router that I was seeing following the link provided.

Grandpa May 20th, 2007 09:27 PM

Evidently your ISP doesn't know what they are talking about. Or you don't have a Siemens speedstream 6520. The link below is the specks on the 6520 and it does have a NAT firewall in it.

Ahh sorry...:o I'm having a blonde moment...

Go to your Add/Remove programs..;)

knb03 May 20th, 2007 11:51 PM

Can't find that number anywhere in the add/remove programs so probably don't have it.

wondering why May 21st, 2007 12:01 AM

OK...That's ruled out...

Check with these instructions to make sure you have your Norton and Limewire configured together properly..
Port Forwarding for the Norton Internet Security 2007

If it still wont connect try these fixes....

Right-click the Limewire icon and going to properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version.

Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!)

Thank you, thank you, thank you. It is now working after changing the port through Norton.

wondering why May 21st, 2007 12:28 AM

With all of these connection problems latley it's so good :yahoo: to hear of a successful outcome..;)

Rommeldog May 21st, 2007 07:41 AM

That leaves me at a catch 22 situation , And I believe you are right there is fire wall there , but
Aliant
tells me there is none I can get into my modem no problem but it is not as
pictured
in the link for port
forwarding
it has different icons in it...I can not get the ports for LW as I can not open it. And Why are my sons computers able to go through this same modem with
Xp
and I have to change the ports for Vista.

Grandpa May 21st, 2007 08:21 PM

Probably has a conflict with Vista and uPnp. Have you checked to see if you have the latest firmware for you spedstream. Remember Vista is new and there are still some products that may need to have there drivers and firmware upgraded. Some products still do not work properly with Vista. You can find a link to the firmware on the left hand side of the page in the link below.

Hi, Apologies in advance if this has been answered previously, but I havent been able to navigate through the entire site yet as it is so huge.

I have a problem with accessing Limewire (or other similar like Bittorrent) simultaneously when my partner is using on his machine. We're connected to the net (ADSL2) via a Netgear Router (wired and wireless). One can use it successfully, but as soon as the other person launches the program the 2nd person to open has a Firewall msg displayed at the bottom of the program...

Does anyone have a solution they'd like to share???

Thanking you in anticipation.
