Fixed the Bug... Now what?

So, like just about every one else, I have been having issues with Limewire opening every few seconds.

I followed the instructions here with no success...

and I believe I have taken care of the problem. My question is, can I now reinstall Limewire or am I going to have the same problem? My hubby says I cannot put it back on until I am sure it won't happen again. I have only been using Limewire for about a week so I am fairly new to this whole game. I used to use Kazaa but it caused my computer major problems and I was unable to remove that program from my computer for months until my Uncle finally got rid of it for me. I just got a new computer on Thanksgiving and I really don't want to break it with this program (again) Any advice would be helpful!

There are lots of infected files on the network. The worm that causes the problem with LW opening all the time is pretty common...so you really do have to be careful with what you download:wink:

Make sure that you're using a good AV (antivirus) program & keep it updated!!
Scan a file that you've downloaded with your AV before you open it.

Files with the extensions .exe, .zip & .rar are ones to be especially careful with. I don't download those at all. But, if you do decide to download these, make sure to scan before opening. Check the thread below, it has useful info
