Look at my thread; http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showthread.php?t=64057, if you have followed the same things as me and have a similar problem it may be your ISP.

These are the system details which birdy wanted you to answer:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

Unhappy Tried it too No luck help pls

Hi

I've been trying to connect to LW for about a week and keep losing my rag! I've turned my firewall off (Kerio Personal). Turned AVG off. Turned Windows firewall off and tried it and turned it all back on again. I've tried to do the exeptions on Kerio by putting in the LW web address and other stuff and it doesn't like the info being put in. On the OS firewall the exeption is in there for LW so that seems ok. I'm running on NTL broadband, which I have never had a problem with before. I have looked at lots of the help topics on your pages and can't find one that will resolve my prob. It'll be just my luck it will be somethin stupid!

I'm running windows XP
Kerio Personal and AVG
I should have enough disk space and RAM as this is a newly built system
Broadband NTL on NTL modem
Trying to connect from home
LW 4.12
The test came back ok
Not sharing with other computers
Had LW on my old computer using NTL etc with no problems
There is a brick wall icon in LW and the connection bar stays on the first one

I hope this is enough info so if anyone can help I'd be really grateful.

Many Thanks
Mrs H

@ MrsHappy

In the Kerio Firewall did you allow Limewire full access?

You may have to put advanced rules into Kerio as well.

In Limewire go to Tools-->Options-->Advanced-->Firewall config Tell us your settings there.

Also try adding the listening port number to advanced rules in Kerio (Both TCP and UDP)

Also are you absolutely sure that the NTL Modem is only a modem (no firewall) and not a router (Routers often have internal firewalls)

Default Try Again

Hi

The settings are listen on port 29439 and use UPnP. When I try and allow LW full access on Kerio through the config>web>site exeptions page>add, it won't actually allow me to add anything to it?? this is why I disabled Kerio to see if it would work then, but still had no luck. So Kerio seems to be a pain to configure if you have the free version. I'm 99.9% sure about NTL, I had LW about a month ago and it worked fine with the same equipment. Is it worth deleting Kerio and trying something like Softpedia which other users have managed to sort out. I can always put Kerio it back on if nec, but I do find it complicated to config.

Cheers

Kerio can be a pain I know. I tried it once and it did interfere with another P2P program I use.

I use the last free Sygate Firewall myself. Symantec bought the rights to it and stopped making it, because they use part of the code in their corporate firewall. I find it really good and userfriendly. Also I have not encountered any problems regarding P2P programs while using it.

You can get it here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Securit...all-Free.shtml

I never had problems using Kerio with Limewire, so it might not be the root of the problem though.

There is one thing though, when adding rules for Kerio you should do it in the advanced section. Ports not the web. I don't really remember exactly how the settings looked like so I can't be of much more help than that.

Also Limewire.exe should be added allowing it full access

Talking It's Working!!

YIPPEEEEEE!!!

Got it working at last. I downloaded Sygate Personal and deleted Kerio. Sygate asked me which programmes I wanted to allow as I was requesting them so no complicated numbers/web addresses needed putting in. I turned off NTL Broadband medic and opened LW and it connected. I closed LW and rebooted the BB medic and then tried LW and it still worked. So it must take about 10 mins for LW to be approved/allowed by the firewall. I am now running Sygate personal, AVG and windows firewall and LW still works! Happy Downloading xxx

Thanks V Much for all your help.

Good to hear. You are not running Windows Firewall, because Sygate turns it off when you install it. This is a good thing BTW because you should not run two firewalls at the same time.
