![]() jimbo-ice, Do you by any chance have the NetSafe security package as part of your Atlantic Broadband service (see the link below)? http://atlantic.highspeed.com/ That also has a firewall. I'm running out of ideas here ![]() You could search your comp for NetSafe...see if anything shows up. Or have a look on your documents from your ISP, you might find some info to tell you whether you have that package. |

![]() ok ill check, um i emailed atlantic broadband earlier to see what they had to say about blocking it heres what they say..."P2P connections are being throttled thru our network.....during peak hours you may not be able to connect" |

![]() forgot to mention, I did a system recovery thing earlier and when it asks what type of internet I had I put DSL, I think last time I put LAN, i rally dont have a clue what it is but the way they described dsl sounded more like cable then the LAN did, also, when i was supposed to put in my ip address and all that I left it blank.... I was lost bigtime by this time, maybe that has something to do with Limewire and other P2p connections? |

![]() no lol, all they said what what i copy and pasted, but anyways, my buddy has atlantic broadband but a differert modem, his is bigger, and like an off white color, dont know the name tho, is there somewhere I could show u which one online somewhere? I dont know about his speed/connection. PS. the funny thing is when i was at his house he only has windows firewall i think and it was turned on and he had limewire as an exception.. but on limewire there was no wall in front of the globe, mines the exact opposite, that why I think something may have happened to my modem when we had that power surge thing, he lost an xbox360 but nothing happened to his computer, i was on the computer at the time (which i dont think would help) and it pretty much toasted my old computer, everything except the monitor and speakers, my modem has all the lights on but, i just have a hard time believing that 2 days after we had the power surge my isp decides to block the port or watever, when on my old, slower computer it worked ![]() |

![]() Ask him to look on the modem (underneath too) & tell you the brand name plus the model number. Is there any way that you could borrow the modem for a little while & see if things work for you then? You might have to bribe him ![]() |
| |||
![]() heh ya im sure he will let me use it, for a little while lol, but can this happen though? like something inside messed up with completly frieing it? because i can still use it to connect to the internet and all the light work fine :-\ |

![]() I would've thought that if it was working for internet, it would be ok but I'm no expert! The idea of switching modems was kind of a last resort ![]() Have you tried turning off the XP firewall, just for a very short time, since you deleted Norton? Have you tried installing one of the older versions since you deleted Norton? I'm stumped. Someone else might have more ideas. If you had a laptop, you could take it to someone else's house (who uses a different ISP) & try to connect. Sorry... |
