Default cannot connect anything

i am an ares user and i can normally connect and download at speeds of around 30kb/s but it started taking 10 minutes to connect and then would only download at very low speeds like 0.001kbs. this also happens when i use a torrent client. so now i have downloaded limewire and it will not connect at all , it is not a firewall blocking it. and my windows live messenger persists on diconecting every few minutes or so , and i tihnk this may be linked. can somebody please help

I can see a couple of problems already, firstly Tiscali are known to block p2p..

Your modem/router could have a built in Nat firewall..

You may not have Norton firewall configured properly...
