Default I can't get connected and only have 1 green bar.

I've always been a loyal limewire user but in the past few weeks i haven't used it at all. Until recently i've got the itch to get a particular song. So, i started my computer, connected the limewire and... nothing happened! I only have 1 green bar and when i wanted to search something, there will be a prompt says "limewire is currently connecting."

Now, i have tried some tricks that are posted on the forum like deleting .limewire folder (hidden), unchecked tip box, cancelling the automatic connection and even manual port forwarding but unfortunately the problem is still there, no connection!

Can anyone help me? I am new to this forum and not a computer savvy, so please give thorough explanations. THanks a lot

When you set up port forwarding, did you use these instructions?
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...4/Limewire.htm

Did you make sure to set up a static IP address first? Did you also make sure that the port forwarded & LW's listening port were the same number? Go back through & double check everything...it's easy enough to make a mistake & not realise.

I think your router supports UPnP. If port forwarding's not working (it's usually pretty reliable) you could also enable UPnP within the router & choose the UPnP option within LW (tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Apply to save a change)...see if that changes anything.

Make sure that your McAfee's configured properly. Also check that there's no firewall associated with your apartment block's internet connection.

Starhub are known for throttling bandwidth, but AFAIK they don't block ports. Still, you could try changing ports to one between 49152 - 65535. You'll have to change LW's listening port & any ports forwarded thru your router

You ISP may have started blocking or shaping P2P traffic. Or your firewall settings may have changed somehow.

Default Port Forwarding or uPnP

Just now, I have tried to redo all the steps of port forwarding and unfortunately I still have 1 green bar. Fyi, I'm posting this thread using the port forwarding settings which means i have put in the correct Name Servers IP address and do rest of the steps precisely, or else i won't be able to browse the web rite?

I also have tried the uPnP settings but i still can't get connected. But, i haven't tried to configure the Mcfee firewall because i don't know the precise steps to do it. I've only checked the status of Limewire on the list of Mcfee internet applications, and it says "allow full access".

So, what should i do next? i'm kinda stuck here...
Thanks for the help so far!

PS:
Grandpa: if my ISP (Starhub) has started blocking or shaping p2p traffic, then why my friends with the same ISP can still use limewire with ease? aren't they supposed to get the same problem as mine?

And how can i change back my Mcfee firewall settings if it really has changed automatically?

There are allot of people having trouble with McAfee right now and it is known to block limewire. Try turning it off and seee if LimeWire will connect.

To disable firewall protection:
On the McAfee SecurityCenter pane, do one of the following:
Click Internet & Network, and then Configure.
Click Advanced Menu, then Configure on the Home pane, and then point to Internet & Network.
On the Internet & Network Configuration pane, under Firewall protection is enabled, select Off.
A warning appears saying 'When firewall protection is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to intrusion and unwanted network connections'.
In the warning box, you have the option of automatically re-enabling the firewall after 15 minutes (you can change this to 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes).
Click OK to disable the firewall. Clicking Cancel leaves the Firewall protection enabled.
