Hi JSTJ1. System details - help us to help you Recently there's been a problem with people not providing enough details about their setup - despite being asked again & again. So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX ) XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.? 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? These are all contained within the sticky Connection problems? Check here first! but possibly some people are getting a bit confused or lost when we direct them to this sticky & ask them to provide their details. This information can be vital For instance, some ISPs are known for blocking p2p/throttling bandwidth, some connection devices are known for being unreliable in certain situations. So please, help us to help you & provide as much info as you can. If you're new to LW or new to computers & aren't sure how to answer some questions, or don't know what an ISP or router is - just say so. Nobody's going to yell at you:wink: Even if you can't answer all the questions in one go...don't worry. Do the best you can & we'll take it from there. __________________ Peace. |

Jstj1. Is that a modem, modem/router, or just router I just cant find it |
modem and router If i'am right this is all new to me I'am useing to dial up lol |
JSTJ1 Sorry friend I cant find any reports on hugesnet for shaping P2P so Can you ring your ISP (Internet Service Provider) & ask if their modem has a built in firewall ? Also at the same time, ask if they shape P2P file sharing programs, dont let them fob you off, if they say no, Ask For it in writing, If they do they will usualy come clean at this point. Please Confirm XPfirewall is disabled, AT, Start/Control Panel, double click on windows firewall, n Disable. uncheck,(Dont alow exeptions) if ticked. Please get back to us it helps others. Peace. |
They said huges used a firewall but it's disable by defluat. I asked them if they allow p2p sharing they said I can shar files and folders on the internet |
I asked them why limewire is being firewallled I have windows connections firewall disabled and norton allowing limewire and I told then it's still being firewalled. They said hughesnet does not firewall lime wire I need to contact limewire |
I don't have windows security center for like firewall and stuff but I checked my internet connections and it was firewall disabled. So I don't know whats firewalling me lol |

Hi JSTJ1, & Djlambert If you have a setup CD from your ISP, put it in the drive n see if you can access a folder called setup info, or something like that, to access your wireless firewall so you can check the settings sorry its a mystery to me also. Peace. CAN ANYONE ELS HELP WITH THIS PLEASE ? |

JSTJ1 Hi Man. Im sorry man it dose sound to me, more likely Your ISP Peace. |
Well I WAS ABLE TO GET IN MY SYSTEM CONTROL INFO AND SEEN THE FIREWALL WAS DISABLED. |
OH yeah I seen it had a NAT I read something on here on alot that |
JSTJ1 Hi. If u can access the NAT firewall, then enable the option, UPnP, then Go to L/W, Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config, and check UPnP is enabled that should fix it. Please tell us if it workes or not, it helps others. Peace. |
well I seen NAT was enabled but did not see enable the opiton UpnP. I'll call them lol well I did change it to Upnp in lw options. weird to I was getting 75kb's download speed this morning lol |
still see a brick on the globe lol |
Well this morning I was getting 75kb's no i'am getting max 30 or 40 and jumps around alot from 0 to 40 or 50 |
Guess what I talked to them through chat support and I can DISABLE the NAT woooooooowwwwwwwww that should fix it!!! I have to call them to do but I'am gonna do it |
ALL right here's the fix I talked to advanced tech hughesnet. I runing a pro plan with hugesnet that uses NAT and it I can't disable If i upgrade to the next plan 10 more bucks amonth they will do away with the NAT and I will have a Static Ip address instead of NAT firewall. I told them lime wire is being firewalled and they said if I upgrade it will resove the problem. Well I'll be upgrading |
sorry i have been at work so if you upgrade it will fix the problem all a money gimmick i suppose thanks for the info |
ok i also have the hughesnet satelite ****.. i have the highest plan proplus... and i still have issues with the firewall being up and i dont have windows firewall enabled,,, it is turned off.. i have no other firewalls or antivirus...im xp 2 gb ram ,180gb Hd and the hn7000s modem/router combo. i hope someone figures this out soon , i mean i had faster dl's on dialup ... WTF |
oh im also using limewirepro 4.12.11 i never had this problem on dialup, and i get this hughesnet thinkin oh yeah im gonna be able to dl faster.. but ohhhhhhh no.. there has to be something wierd .. :-|.... oh and java 6 and the test worked.. |
wow does anyone ever check this site?? |
Hi I Beileve its hughesnet, thats the problem. Unless U havent configured your modem/router correctley Check your settings. Peace |
well i have tried protforwarding and i cant cause no one has an online manual for this modem/router hughes hn7000s .. so if someone could figure it out it would prolly take care of the problem. but until then who knows ... |
does anyone know of a p2p that works well with a satelite connection from hughesnet? |
Apparently Hughes is blocking P2P the link below may be of some help. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,17862993 |
Here is another link that may be of some help. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,16291834 The link below is to the hughesnet forum at broadban reports.com http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sat |
it is definately the port forwarding issue , as soon as i figure out how to port forward on this router i will post it , hughes net has no idea how to tell me where to begin on the port forwarding .. the only thing i can think of is the router is firewalling the port needed by limewire and utorrent .. , but i am working on it people , just give me time and i will figure this out , i never give up :P |
Homi man. When You recived your modem/router package, you would have a setup CD with it, So try looking on the CD, (DONT run it) explore it and look for the setup Read me folder, Your firewall setup may be in there. Peace. |
there was nothing on the cd that came with the modem/router, i have been all through the routers setup page and can not find anywhere to change the port settings , this is begining to get frustrating.... but i never give up :D |
Hi Homi. This is what JSTJ1 says, after contact with Hughesnet. Phone them homi,to be sure. "ALL right here's the fix I talked to advanced tech hughesnet. Well I'll be upgrading" Homi, post back n let us know how you got on. Peace. |
i am already on the highest plan proplus and i do have a static ip and i still have this problem , so someone is being lied to .... they support port forwarding and they "claim" that they dont block any ports , and it is on my pc that i need to be concerned with the ports , but i have all firewalls off and on stand alones this is really annoying , i just need one damn listening port to be open but i can not get one i have tried manually configuring the tcp/upd ports on my pc and through windows firewall to make sure that they were open on my end , it has to be hughes net .. but i will finnd a way around it . i just havent found the right person yet :D but i never give up |
ma bad they dont support port forwarding |
OK Homi man. Im not giving in, so try this link, its the instructions to your wireless router. Do what they say n follow steps in exact order given n get back. Try using UPnP option first, n dont forget to re boot your computer before restarting L/W,we will get there in the end. http://www.google.com/search?q=cache...n&ct=clnk&cd=2 Peace. |
ok,i went to that link in mickjapa108's post and nothing of any use is in there that i seen , it just tells me the specs... i dont need specs.. i nned to set it on fire ans send it back to HN :)) jk , maybe i missed something i will look again ... |
Sorry Homi I didnt read it, Im still looking man |
Homi man. Heres another link, help me search, 2 heads are better than one http://portforward.com/routers.htm |
Hi homi. Its invisable man, cant find it anywhere, There is a Huges forum if you have the time to look there n mabe post sayin (Help setup info Huges hn7000s) If you have no joy man, I will pick it up again later. Peace. |
OK Homi. This is Grandpa's link he gave you before its all there. I must have over looked it. http://kb.hughesnet.com/al/12/2/1040.htm Peace. |
ok guys i knew how to get to the system info page , but here's the kicker . you cant change anything on it you can not change any settings its really dumb , i mean all this crap and you cant set it the way you want to, i guess im just SOL on the whole p2p thing fornow , portforward doesnt ahve anything on this modem/router, i uploaded screenshots of every page i could find on the system info and then i went to the advanced page and took screenshots of all of them and they emailed me and sai it looks like there is nothing you can do about it , your router/modem doesnt support port forwarding , but i think it does , just no one has figured it out yet...but i never give up :D, thanks for all of your help Granpa and mick . but im still trying . |
Just curious did you check out the link I left you for Hughes net forum. There are 2 different plans from what I can see and if you want to run LimeWire or any other P2P app then you will have to have the Static IP plan where they give you a IP Address. The Dynamic plan which is what I believe you have Will Not Allow You To Set Up A Port any way I would advise you to go to the link below and see if the can help you. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sat |
i have the highest plan pro plus with a static ip already.. still not working |
i just really need to know how to port forward on this thing and that will solve the problem |
