Hi Joefuf. I Just stumbled on this. 4. Optimum Online (particularly of Long Island) are totally blocking all p2p sharing!!!. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...=&pagenumber=1 for just one of many, many examples!!! It seems they are blocking ports. Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & change the listening port to one between 49152 - 65535. Press Apply. Then restart LW. Ports 64049 or 50012 seem good for this isp. |

I just tried this in eTomi Pro (using it cause it at least starts up, but wont connect (I know wrong forum to be posting it in)(I am still trying to get Limewire to work so I am still in this thing)) and it still didn't work. Joefuf Hi. Just lets do a recheck Have you phoned your ISP to rule them out ? Have you removed all other apps of java before installing new ? I know the error said poss Firewall but corrupt java gives same error. Sounds like things have become jumbled. Follow thease instructions exactly. So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions. Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs. Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/ & make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked) Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search. Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything) Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now! Use this Link to get JRE 6, Use the off line installer, NOT the (recormended) one, http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp When Download is completed. Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java. Now!! 1. Yes the isp isn't the problem (my other computer (laptop) connects to lw fine) 2. Java totally removed 3. Lw uninstalled 4. Rebooted 5. Searched with no results (already deleted the preferences folder) 6. Rebooted 7. Java removed and internet disconnected 8. Java reinstalled 9. Lw reinstalled and still the same message no go... :( :( |
