![]() Well I have bittorrent and it has never been a problem... I released and renewed my ip just in case and updated the settings on my router... then i did the installation of the files: java_ee_sdk-5_02-windows and jre-1_5_0_11-windows-i586-p-s (first i uninstalled java though... don't worry) then i reinstalled LW... same message... no change... I may not have mentioned it before, but i have another computer. Its a laptop that runs on the same wireless network so when I realized that LW runs on it, it occured to me that the router could not be the problem to any degree... If I installed or uninstalled something that I should/ should have not !!!Please tell me!!! If the Java was the problem (which I assume is the next direction you will take me in) give me a direct link to where I need to download the file or files so I don;t make a mistake!!! Thanks, Jeff |

![]() The extra info you just gave me, tells me you have 2 problems. One, You should only have one version of java running in Add or remove Programs, so delete all java you see in (Add or remove Programs) & use this link to get the "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6" http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Next, as you have TWO computers on one connection, You must make 2 diffrent static IP's first then, in L/W 2 diff listening ports n portfaward both Sorry routers are not my bag. Peace.

![]() Which one do you mean specifically? (I want to get this fixed and last time I got the wrong one): 1. JDK 6u1: https://sdlc4a.sun.com/ECom/EComActi...047D12F790B904 2. JDK 6 with Java EE https://sdlc6d.sun.com/ECom/EComActi...6FDB46D91D404D 3. Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1 https://sdlc6d.sun.com/ECom/EComActi...3D41CD6CBF6A2E The one I will try first it number 3, but 6Pac or you gave me a static IP link anyway so I am good with that aspect. |

![]() I went here first actually (sorry. I don't mean to be flooding the forum with my every step) http://www.softpedia.com/get/Program...Java-JRE.shtml |
| |||
![]() No go... I used the static IP site 6_Pac gave me and it didn't do anything. I installed the java from the softpedia link, restarted, reinstalled LW, added the static IP and ran it. No go. Then I restarted again and same result.... |

![]() Joefuf Hi. This is the right one,& the official site, USE the OFF LINE installer. jre-6u1-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Delete all other java, Before install. Have you created a static IP for both computers ? if not it wont work Routers are not my strong subject, I suggest you start a new thread & put in the title, (How do I portfaward 2 computers,) on ONE connection Peace.

![]() Well I did everything the way you said to... I called up Linksys and asked them to guide me through the Static IP process for good measure... I installed the offline installer (you gave me the name of the online installer, so I did what would make sense and used the offline one) Then I reinstalled LW... No luck. ![]() ![]() ![]() So... I don't know what my options are right now. I have my laptop which works perfectly and is also on a static IP and will run LW. My desktop has removed Norton like you advised, is now using static IP, and has windows firewall off. Still, it won't run... I did notice that my wireless network connection knows it is not being firewalled or blocked, so there is no firewall in the problem. I went through my running processes again and found some interesting ones though that may or may not be a problem: AOLssc.exe --- AOL's security program, but it isn't in the tray anymore like it used to be so I figured it was shut down MpfService.exe --- Mcaffe personal firewall service? MpfTray.exe --- Macaffee personal firewall tray? SpySweeper.exe --- SpySweeper SpySweeperUI.exe - - SpySweeper Could any of those be the problem? An idea I had in the middle of this whole thing was that you and I could set up a time for us to use a "remote control" program and I would let you remotely control my computer for a time. Then we would know that everything is being done as it should. If you are up for this option, let me know, give me a week or so, and I can find a program for us to use. |

![]() Well, well, well... I gave up hope... In my case this usually means that I do drastic things and don't care about the outcome until I am just plain screwed. So I went lookign on a basic google search with the exact line of the error I got. Then I came across a few people using a program that managed their virus protection. I thought, "gee I seem to be having a problem related to the sort. Why don't I try doing something like they did?" So I did. For all your cases like this in the future, reccommend "Security Task Manager 1.7" Edit: This software has a 30 day free trial. *NO mention of cracks on the forum* Yeah I used pirated software to get this done... So I went and looked at all the things there that matched the processes I just told you... Mcafee was the problem... Somehow (probably my mom) downloaded a mcafee program which I deleted the program of. BUT I DIDN'T DELETE THE PROCESSES!!! So I used the Security Task Manager to remove Mcafee I started up LW and thought how no matter what I was getting this done and it started loading!!! I couldn;t believe it; I was laughing! This was the best thing I did all day!!! Thanks a billion mickjapa. Your guidance up to the stuff I did was perfect and saved me so much time. A month long quest comes to an end. Thanks again and I hope to help you out some time... Remember the program is called "Security Task Manager" It is perfect for this stuff. I will find any open thread and put it in there for people struggling like I was. See you aroud buddy! ---Joefuf __________________________________________________ Edited to comply with the House Rules. ![]() Hi Joefuf. Can I just say, In my experience Cracked programs are usually the beginning of many problems, In this day n age, there are so many Open source Free programs that can be used safely, its not worth it. What I use for security is Webroot Spysweeper, Webroot Desktop Firewall, AVG anti virus,(free one) & Peer Guardian (free) These programs all run with no conflict together. Security Task Manager, is in my opinion a good tool so after the trial runs out consider buying it. Also I would think of reinstalling your XP-OS to clean & get rid of all the errors That cracked programs cause. Thanks for the info on, Security Task Manager sounds like a good tool. Hope it all goes well for you. Peace.
