I can't seem to connect to limewire with my laptop even though my desktop is handling it fine. It just says connecting in the corner no matter how long i'm on. I think part of the issue might be with my router and part with the firewall. Any help would be appreciated.

Win XP HE with SP2
30 Gig HD
Lynxsys Wireless G with speedbooster
Zone alarm pro
limewire pro 4.2.6

Guest0007: You probably do need port 6346 to be opened on your modem. So far as your modem/router goes it's difficult to say b/c I don't have a model no. However, if you look at the bottom of this page you'll be able to see several models & one might be or fit yours as far as instructions go. 1st you'll need to set up a static ip for it to work properly. http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm

Other instructions may help: Setting up a static ip for Linksys & for port forwarding THIS might help

If you're using LW 4.2 or earlier then refer to this: Force IP instructions & sample image or otherwise if you have LW 4.4 you can try leaving it up to LW to try to configure the best firewall setting. Else try the 2nd option & use port 6346.

I presume you configured both your firewalls(XP & Zonealarm) for LW's access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Well it's been said, in fact everything said many times over in this thread!!! How about this:
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version?
2. What firewalls you have?
3. ram? 4. HDD space available?
5. Connection type?
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

Default Still can't connect

I have tried to locate the .limewire folder but there isn't one. I looked in my "Owner Folder" and it wasn't there. I even ran a search from the the start menu and the folder wasn't located. I downloaded the old version of Limewire and it worked fine. Then my comuter froze, so i rebooted. After that it hasn't opened. I then got the PRO version, and have never been able to run it. I am running Windows XP. N E Suggerstions?
-Thanks in advance

You could try: Fixes for Limewire

I hope you configured your firewalls to allow LW: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Angry "Connect" by any other name would smell so sweet

Read all your threads regarding firewall setup(completed), delete limewire subdirectory(done), even forced IP, however still not getting past the dreaded spinning Lime syndrome etc...

Quick test for port:6346 access came back with "Unable to display" response in browser.

ISP is Centurytel.net

System Info:
Windows XP Home w/SP1
Java 1.5.0
LimeWire 4.2.6

Dell Dimension 2400
Pentium 4
512 MB Ram
DSL = Westell WireSpeed Model B90

There seems to be a lot of traffic regarding the "connectionality" of this software and all the subsequent fixes.
