8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.12.11 and Java?
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? SBC
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Test Works.
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 2 other computors on the modem, Limewire is working on them, and MP3 Torrent and it worked before I installed the firewall but it doesn't now
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Uh..It's a Consistent problem.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? I have uninstalled the firewall and reinstalled limewire and the brick wall is still there.

Have you made sure that you have allowed Limewire in your Vista's firewall...

Make sure you are running Java 6....(Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

Yea, vista's firewall is off but I'll have to check again to see what version java is. I did not have LW on before the firewall but MP3 torrent was and it worked before and it doesn't now. It does not have any indicator of wether or not that it's blocked like LW.

What is the model number for your 2wire....

The java version is 1.5.0_03. I forgot which one it said it needed to be. The 2wire is model 1000sw. The 2wire software does not run on vista yet.

You'll need Java 1.6. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your old Java version before you install the new one

Also, while I was explorering around I found that this Norton has a firewall and it says PCtools firewall is still on even though I uninstalled it. I turned the norton one off but I can't find how to get rid of the pctools one.

Whoomba, have you tried rebooting your comp to see if the PCtools firewall is all gone then? I've never used that one but if it's stubborn to uninstall, you might have to use your comp to search for PCtools & delete anything that shows up from there.

There's a post in their forum about a problem with the PCtools firewall not automatically turning off Windows firewall (people might assume it's off when it's not)...maybe that has something to do with your trouble?

If you still can't get rid of the PCtools firewall, go to that forum & see if you can find some more info.

At the end of the day, you'll have to choose 1 software firewall. Configure it to allow LW & then disable any other software firewalls.

Well, I finally did a system restore and got rid of that screwy PC tools firewall and reinstalled limewire and now I am getting "could not set default magnet" error. Anybody know what this is?
