LimeWire really screwed up with this new 2.0. It seems they have released it way before it was finished because not only am I also having the only one connection problem but there is no support for this on their web page. I'd flick off the people who released it with all these problems if I could.

Thumbs down THE STATISTICS ARE WRONG STOP BITCHING ABOUT THEM

People, the statistics you see when connected to an ultrapeer are wrong. So stop being ****ed off because you are relying on them.

1. Once you are connected to an ultrapeer, you drop all other connections.

2. The statistics reported back are considered broken once you are connected to an ultrapeer.

a. The hosts number you get is believed to be the number of ultrapeers that peer is connected to. That isn't the total connections the peer has. It also has up to 50 other leaves that work just as you do.
b. The 'files shared and size shared' are likewise screwed up.

So STOP complaining about stuff that ISN'T really happening. PLEASE.

The biggest scewup the developers did in this release wasn't code related; it was not documenting this proccess completely and shoving the info into every new user's face.

But that isn't an excuse for people who post here to be complete twits, esp when this info has been repeated and repeated over and over again in these forums.

I was confused too when I first started using this new version. But you know what? After about 5 minutes of reading these forums, I actually had a handle on what was happening.

Instead of creating BS posts about how this version sucks which show exactly how little you really understand about what is going on. Try actually reading the forum first.

Thumbs down boooo!

Limewire 2.0.4 does not work well and certainly does not work better than previous versions. You get one connection. That is all. You rarely get any searches to your database so you can hardly share either. I get about 5% of the number of results I used to get with 1.7 and that just plain sucks. So quit saying that I am wrong and that Limewire really is worth the six bucks I paid for it because the way it looks now it isn't worth half that. Maybe for modem users it is but not for me with my high bandwidth connection.

The point remains that searches turn up less hits, and downloads are slower, than on previous versions.

I mean c'mon. The adware in 1.8c was BAD, but at least I got lots of hits when searching. Now there's no adware, and I get the warm happy feeling of supporting a worthy cause - only to feel screwed since I can't get the files I'm looking for.

I don't give a rat's *** about how many Ultrapeers I see, or how many hosts are supposedly connected. What I care about is results - and I'm not getting them.

Wink Agreed

Hey - I agree. I sincerely question how many results you used to get as a ratio to the ones you get now.
Tell you what, if you want to rely on the itty bitty stats you used to see, tell me your e-mail and I'll code you a quick visual basic application that just generates random numbers over 2000.
I mean, in the earlier versions, who is to say whether the results were accurate back then? Isn't it possible the coders could have been faking them. Even if you do get an ultrapeer connection and it says "1 Host" then I invite you to do a search! You'll see plenty of results and if you look at the IP addresses of the files, you'll notice - WOW! More than 1 host!
I too was confused and was ready to delete my copy of Limewire from my PC after reading these forums, but one standout post told me the real truth, it said that the stats were wrong. Take the hint!

Having one connection wouldn't be an issue if you could connect to enough hosts through that connection and still see plenty of files. While it may be true that the statistics you can view in the UI are incorrect, then you should still able to get the same access to files that you could in the 1.7 client. This is not the case however. Personally, even though I spent the $6 for Pro, I'll be uninstalling it an reinstalling 1.7 until this inadequacy is addressed. The only real catch is that the 6 months of free upgrades is now on the clock - even though to really use the system, I can't have the software I purchased installed!

Angry One connection

And another user with the same problem. I'm running 2 PC's on the same LAN line, and the one with version 1.7 returns 1079 doc's for the same query version 2 returns 18. Long live my one superpeer but it doesn't work. I want my 6 bucks back.

I'm glad I finally found this forum. I'm sure limewire is tired of hearing all of the bitching. I certainly let them know how I feel about this new version. (Of course, with no response)

I can see how I receive search results from more than one host when the connection shows I have 1 host connection. That did make the veins bulge less than before I realized it.

What's weird is I see faster download speeds. Of course I'm on the Flintstones dial up modem, but to get halfway decent d/l speeds with the old version I had to disconnect from the network and let my downloads continue. Now I see almost no difference in the download speeds whether I'm connected or disconnected from the network.

But I do notice that I get many many fewer results from searches. I'd be happier with the old version of limewire (if I could find it).

Does anybody know where to get the old version? Anybody willing to do a file transfer via ICQ?

I'm grateful to have found this forum before I decided to pay for the "pro" version. In my email to limewire I asked if I could maintain more than one connection with the paid for version. I'm still waiting for an answer, but it seems that it doesn't matter if you pay for it or not. You will still get an inferior number of connections... ultrapeer or not ultrapeer.
