Hi!

I recently did a system restore on my desktop, and since doing that and reinstalling Limewire I can no longer connect. When I open Limewire all I get is "You are currently connecting to the network", but that's it, it never connects. I'm not sure what I did. I also recently set up a network between my desktop and laptop, I don't know if that is related to this problem or not.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP
2. What firewalls you have? Just the Windows Firewall
3. How much ram? 704MB
4. Hard Disk space available? 19.2GB
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem- ScientificAlanta DPX2100; Router- DLink DI-524
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Apartment
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Limewire 4.12.11; Java 1.5.0_03
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? "Your test worked!"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. ??
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I've used Limewire for a couple years, new problem but after reformatting computer.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes.



I'm not really a computer expert so if I answered any questions wrong sorry! Hopefully someone can get me back up and running! Thanks so much!

Sounds like things have become jumbled.
Do this first
Follow these instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)
Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Link to get (jre-1.5.11) Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one,
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.
Delete Permissions for Limewire in XP firewall before reinstalling L/W Then L/W will reapply on L/W setup.
Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer
