Have you made sure that the Windows firewall is off, & that PC-Cillin firewall is allowing LW? Something's blocking LW's default port. Could be your ISP, but I can't find any info about that. Change LW's listening port (tools > options > advanced > firewall config) to 64049, or something in the range of 49152-65535. Click Apply to save a change. Try using this older version of Java. Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current version of Java before you install the older one. Your router has a firewall. If it supports UPnP, enable it within the router & then choose the UPnP option on that same page where you changed LW's listening port. If that's no help then try port forwarding. The instructions for your router are here. Port Forwarding for the Dynex DX-E401 Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within a router must all be the same number;) |
how do i see if pc-cillin is allowing limewire. and if it isn't how do i change that? thanks |
Check here for instructions about configuring PC-cillin. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall |
so yeah i did that. Windows is off. I switched to a port that is between 10000 and 60000. Also i put limewire on the accepted list or what ever it is on PC-cillin and it still isnt connected. |
i have webroot spy sweeper on my computer. would that effect limewire's ability to connect? |
Did you change your Java version to 1.5.0_11 & remove the 1.6.0_01? Did you try port forwarding? Some people have recently had trouble with a windows update which effects UPnP. So port forwarding would be the thing to try. Mickjapa108 uses Webroot & from what he says here it's compatible with LW. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/263470-post5.html |
how do i remove the old java script? |
Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programes. Scroll down until you see Java and Remove. Now use Birdy's instructions in post 3 to download older version of Java. Hope this helps. |
