2. What firewalls you have? Windows (Turned off) and AOL safety security center ( Firewall is cofigured to allow Limewire )
3. How much ram? 768 ram
4. Hard Disk space available? I believe 18.8 GB free space
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem - Motorola - SB5120
7. Where are you trying to connect from? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW is 4.12.11 and Java is 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?Atlantic Broadband
10. Do this simple test for us. Test Worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Nope computer is on own
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem with an experienced user
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes Firewall detected

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Not really sure

I have uninstalled Java from contol panel < add or remove progams .
I have also uninstalled Limeware from Start < all programs < Limewire < uninstall.

I did not re-install them untill I restarted my computer and double checked for any Limewire by searching my files ( hidden files also )

I am still having the same issue though Please I need more assistance.

How to use Manual Port faward

Universal Plug and Play may not be working properly Due to this update. "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)"
Removing this update is not Recomended & could make your computer vonarable to attack.

If this update is installed on your computer & UPnP is in use in Limewire,
Try switching to Manual Port faward, using port numbers between 45000 To 65000
Both Manual Port faward No, & Listerning port should be set at the same number
In LimeWire, GO to Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config & use Manual Port faward.

If you are using a router to connect, that will also need configuring.
Find your router listed here, Use this blue link. & dont forget to create a static IP first, & click apply after changing each setting.

Still no luck

I switched in limewire to manual port. my number was 47909. I made sure both the manual and listener ports was the same. checked the box next to manual port.
and still have the same problem. ( one bar of connectivity, and the brick wall )

I also went into my firewall setting and made sure port 47909 was set to allow traffic.

Any more suggestions , I would greatly appreciate them

I have also rolled back my java to 1.5.0_11 and still nothing

OK just try this
Turn L/W off, Go to L/W icon on desktop, Right click/Properties/compatibility
tick the box, run this program in, drop the menu & choose Win 2000 restart &
let us no if that works.
If it has no affect after a few mins switch it back.

OK Tobe.
Can you try this for us.
Disconnect from the net.
Completely uninstall AOL safety security center. (using AOL uninstaller)
Turn on XP firewall, then re start your computer.
Now I know its long winded but I think necessary to scrub & reinstall
AOL may have stopped parts of L/W setting up or java last time.
Follow these instructions exactly.
So, you need to Go, Start/All Programs/LimeWire n Uninstall all L/W versions.
Do Not Uninstall From Change or Remove Programs.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now Go to, Start/Search/click on all files n folders/more advanced options/
& make sure, case sensitive, is not ticked. (all other boxes should be ticked)
Now!!, Put limewire in box, (all or part of file name) & click search.
Delete everything found, including Prefetch folder, (I mean everything)
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Link to get (jre-1.5.11) Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one,
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

Now!! Use this link to download latest L/W version using the off line installer (or try the Beta 4.13.4) Chat is working in this release.
LimeWire
If you need help, Shout, If it fixed your problem or not, Feedback helps others.

P.S...Motorola - SB5120 ? Modem, Modem/Router, Wireless/Modem/Router, (Which one) there are many of that Number ?

P.P.S...To save time you could ring Atlantic Broadband & check its not them shaping P2P traffic, There not listed as such, But rule it out.
Peace

hmmm I'm not sure I really wanna do all of that. I mean when I downloaded Limewire in the first place( probally well over a year ago ) while I was under the AOL Safety and Security Center, and I didn't have any problems. It just seems awful funny everyone, well not everyone, but lots of people are having the same problem. I appreciate all of the help you have given me, but I have to think on this one. I will definately give My ISP a call.

Well I shut down my Aol SSC ( did not uninstall ) and did all of the uninstall and reinstall stuff for LW and Java, and the same problem still exists. My Isp says they have nothing to do with the problem. So once again I'm still stuck.

Do you want help from us, Or do you just want to do it your way,
All the other stuff is a waste of time doing, if you don't uninstall what is causing
L/W to only part setup, AOL is the problem, So if you want me to continue uninstall Aol first then repeat Post #6.
I was going to recommend you use AVG security when we had done.
AVG is far better than Norton,Macafee,AOl and most of the Famous ones & its
FREE.
If you dont trust my help,Thats OK, ask a teki friends advice.
Peace.
