![]() It's great when we don't even know what OS you're using, let alone anything else ![]() For Windows: Reinstall this version of Java, use the JRE offline installer. Remove your current version of Java before installing this one. Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 Now delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. Double check that LW's allowed through whatever software firewall you're using. You say that you've looked at all of your firewalls...don't use more than 1 software firewall. Running more than one will just cause trouble as they'll interfere with each other, rather than making you more secure! If you're still stuck then please give some details. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? limewire pro 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? cox 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? it says my test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. no 12. ![]() What versions of LW & Java are you using (in LW click help > about LimeWire & you'll see the versions you're using)? Did you try changing Java versions as I suggested before? Did you also delete your preferences folder? Your LW must be pretty old if there's no firewall icon. Some people can successfully run really old versions, others run into problems. If you have the installer for your old version (sounds like you do, if you've reinstalled a few times), you could try the latest LW 4.12.11. Just download the free basic version & see if it connects. Installing a new version will automatically remove the old one, so if you didn't have the Pro installer saved...you'd lose that version completely ![]() Lime Wire » Download LimeWire In LW go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session'...if it's false, there's probably a firewall problem somewhere. In that case, double check that your XP firewall's off & that your ZA's configured to allow LW. You could also try port forwarding for your router. The instructions are here. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within a router must all be the same number. A few people have had issues with Cox, if you use the forum search to look for Cox you'll find more threads. |
