Thumbs down Unable to connect, 1 green bar, brick wall in front of blue globe

I cannot connect to something i paid for which extremely frustrating. My system specs are as follows:

-windows XP home
-windows firewall and mcafee firewall (I enabled full access for limewire and added the port to the list of ports to be allowed)
-1.25 Gb of DDR RAM
-over 20 Gb free hard drive space
-DSL Highspeed connection
-Speedstream 6520 Modem
-connecting from home
-LW version 4.12.11 which is what the file name was when i downloaded it however when i load the program it says 4.13 beta......java 1.6.0_01
-Aliant
-says"your test worked"
-i am not sharing connections with any other computers
-I've used the free versions of limewire before but i decided to purchase the product to enhance my experience....HAHAHA....that worked out...
-i do see the firewall in front of the globe but again i have enabled the program allowance and the port as well....still nothing

Please I really need help with this, that or a reimbursment for paying for a product that is useless....

Don't run the XP firewall & McAfee together. Choose one, configure it to allow LW & disable the other firewall. After up_dating or upgrading it's a good idea to delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things.

Have you updated your Java version since buying Pro? If so, you could always try this earlier version of Java (some people have had problems with 1.6.0_01). Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5

Your modem has a firewall. How did you have it configured with the earlier version of LW (UPnP enabled, port forwarded or neither)?
You could try port forwarding. The instructions are here.
Port Forwarding for the Siemens Speedstream-6520
Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within a router/modem must all be the same number.

I don't know how you managed to get a 4.13 Beta after downloading 4.12.11...since you would've downloaded from your personal download page, which gives you the choice of downloading either the stable release or the Beta

Cool Thanks

Birdy ur the man (or WO-man?) either way i think enabling the port in mcafee worked!! it just took limewire like half an hour to log on for the first time because after posting my thread i went back to limewire and i had turbo charged connection!!

But then whenever i would try to download something it would not go down to the download section. so i found another piece of advised you had posted about reseting the pop-ups option to default. FIXED!!!! This was actually the reason i bought limewire pro because my free version wouldnt put anything into the download section from the search section.

Anywho im very impressed and thank you very much
