Default I Can Connect - Mk II

MANY thank yous for your cogent comments...
Serious... no sarcasm intended...

We need a lot more members here stating that those who do 'suffer' from connection probs are actually in the minority.

AND.......

AND.......

It IS that minority which we all (here in Gnutellaforums) hope to help, cajole, guide and otherwise get the boogy going - right, gang ???

so i guess it is server side error?!

why are there no mods announcing that they have a problem...this board is getting spammed with "i can't connect..."

by the way i got this [Edit] song before LW started loosing connection...it sucks it sounded like he had hicups

the song is glitched i'm listening to it right now he sounds drunk tsk tsk

...er, eckchewally, there are NO CENTRAL SERVERS involved or applicable to the GNUTELLA Network...

WE are ALL servers... and WE are NOT servers...

This is peer to peer... meaning, with a VERY technical description, us doing stuff with us.

...er... that's it... It's all us being connected (with some really nifty apps) to, uh, us.

"Democarcy" ain't got nuthin' on Gnutella Network.
Believe it.

If you want a far more specific explanation and description of the 'workings' of Gnutella Network p2p 'realities', pls do some basic ( and also fairly deep and tricky) searching on the same subject both here, within these Gnutellaforums, and via Google...

Magic stuff... And, soon to be forgotten (if not already), we owe a HUGE debt to the grand loonies of WinAmp... Check out the TRUE history of the GNUTELLA NETWORK !!!

- - - - - - -

Or, you perhaps meant that the probs that the minority may be experiencing were due to their Internet Service Providers... maybe that is what you mean re: 'servers' ?

Yes, ISPs can be the prob, but normally the probs for most folks out there are related to:

Firewalls
ISP 'caps'
Restrictions on LANs in university and/or 'office' based systems
Incorrect Java installations
and

yes...

A compulsion to run... RUN, before even having a fundamental grasp of the 'concept of crawling'...

i.e., if you don't know how to Save, Copy, Move, Create Folder(s), Delete and UNDO such actions within the Operating System you are using [ Windows - Linux - Mac] you are trying to 'play the game before you have even learned how to read the rules'...

= failure
= frustration

Right ?

So, without the basics... I mean THE BASICS... being learned we get

= fuggin' nasty posts here !

Me ?

When I test/use a p2p 'client'...
I TRY to make probs... So I can learn from them... This is certainly true for the great majority of 'Super Moderators' and Moderators here...

For me-
I am no great afficianado of LimeWire, but I am a respecter of the folks behind it all...

As many times as I have tried to MAKE probs and do as many really stupid things as I could imagine, it....

Well, it always worked.

This post too long now... me stop...

Again, many thanks for your simple, BUT REALLY valuable comment... Every product, system, function and office has detractors who garner 'publicity'...
Those, of the majority, remain silent, normally...

We need more supporters, such as yourself, here...

btw... Any use, by me, of the general pronoun 'you' in the above is NOT aimed at "you" (i.e. tambay1001... I only intend it as the 'understood 'you'... OK ?

Anyway, cheers, 'Chuckles' and many thanks again for you being here....

Man, you tell me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm announcing... I am announcing !

Listen....

Yesterday... only for about 14 hrs continuous... I did some tests on an ace machine with an ace connect, OK ?

I tried with BearShare 5.2.5.3.... and Aaron Walkhouse's secret X-Ingredient absopositoooootly ULTIMATE BearShare Beta version, a basic LW freebie download version and (er) a , um.... well, an LW 4.13 Pro thingie...

Gotta say it... I did all I know to do... The BS stuff beat the stuffings out of LW (both) -
I am not really that prejudiced... (You other guys shut up !!!!)

Search returns were abysmal with LW...
Yet, same searches w/BS versions (both) involved a majority of LW responders !

And....

AND

To prove that it had zip-all to do with my ISP at the time, I D/Led (legally !) X-Plane, which is in excess of 1 Gig, in 1 hour and 32 mins.
At the SAME TIME as my tests !

(Machine was connected to an ADSL so-called 1Mbps down and 320Kbps up with a typical ping rate and the usual minimum, with a strong tailwind- 15% reduction of any of these fantasy marketing figures, OK ?)

Look... Me been around the p2p stuff for a while and I do like the LW people and I understand the popularity of the app....
BUT,
BUT
But, lately there have been HUGE probs for HUGE numbers of users with the latest versions of LW...

Obviously this subject, and perhaps this 'outrageous' post here, will result in even more posts re: the current probs-

This is not a new situation.... WOW, in the past (years ago) there were things done by both LW and BS that Really pissed-off MANY people !!!

Prob is... er... we don't got Vinnie (BS-FreePeers) to kick around anymore...
(not entirely true as he and the gang ARE TRACEABLE, heh, heh !)

Me shut up now and wait for the deluge...

Again, thanks for your stuff here !
