Crazy Limewire-Help(LW opening up on it's own)

My limewire window pops up all the time, even when I disconnect and exit limewire it still pops up frequently. When I'm playing a computer game, limewire interupts my game and brings me to limewire interface. I can't even play a computer game b/c limewire keeps popping up. I keep on closing it, but it just comes back within a minute. Sometimes I get the limewire icon on my taskbar. There at sometimes up to 10! limewire icons on my taskbar at a time, and I can't close any of them.

please help

That's caused by a virus. Try the fix in this thread: To fix the limewire keeps popping up / no taskmanager bug do the following

AVG(free) might be able to fix it. Be sure to update it before you scan your computer: AVG Free Advisor: AVG Anti-Virus Free

Hey 6_pac... Do you know if this will also fix the problem of my Limewire Library always opening with a ton of folders I didn't download? I'm also new to Limewire and am trying to figure things out. Thanks!

Try scanning your computer with AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. Make sure you update it before scanning.

Try birdy's advice in this thread: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...some-info.html

Problem with launching

When I try to start up Limewire it closes as soon as it starts loading old downloads during startup.Anyone have any idea why?I have tried opening the port,I am using McAfee security suite and have given the program full access. The problem just started two days ago and I haven't changed any settings,so I am not sure what the problem is.I even removed my Java and reinstalled it to see if it was corrupted.I would be most grateful for any help anyone could send my way.

Try deleting LW's preference folder with LW completely shut down. Instructions in this thread points 2 & 3(check both locations): Fixes for Limewire(try the other fixes too). This will reset all your option settings, so make a note of them first(if you can).

Also try uninstalling and deleting all versions of java from your Add or Remove Programs Control Panel. Then d/load and install Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 12, use the offline installer.

NOT a virus

I disagree that this is a virus as I have exactly the same annoying problem and it happened because I upgraded from 3.... to 4.... Everything was absolutely fine before I upgraded and I have tried to find an older version but can't.

I have run several virus scans with McAfee and it hasn't found anything. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both LimeWire and Java, I have updated my PC, anti-virus, Java, everything but NOTHING has helped.

I don't want to use Kazaa as they do put spyware on your machine even though they claim they don't. Please help, what's going on???

i've also scanned my computer multiple times (with Trend Micro) and the only thing i've ever found is a virus called "crack.exe". i'm not sure if that virus has anything to do with any of the things i downloaded form limewire or has anything to do with the limewire problem. but everyday, my computer finds it and deletes it but it just comes back the next day.
there are also these strange files that keep appearing in one of my folders. there's a zip file called "a" and an application called "service.exe". everyday i try to delete these files and the next day, they just keep coming back. this problem started happening around the time when my limewire started doing that popping up thing so i'm guessing the two problems might be related.
my trend micro scanner deletes all of the viruses it finds but the limewire problem still persists.
just today i downloded the newest version of limewire but all of these problems still exist.
i tried downloading the brute force uninstall as suggested on one of the other threads but trend micro said that there might be spyware so i was afriad to download BFU.
i really don't know what to do now. everyone seems to have the same problem and nothing has worked yet.
ANY NEW SUGGESTIONS?
