Won't connect w/Mac os9.2.1 Despite trying the many suggestions posted on this forum, I’ve been unable to get Limewire Basic ver. 4.0.1 to connect to the Internet. I have a Powerbook G3 (320 MB RAM, OS 9.2.1, 20 gigabytes free hard drive space) and I achieve a strong wireless connection at 54 MBPS. According to my music download provider, www.musicinc.cc, Limewire is compatible with their system and Macintosh OS 8.1 or higher. I have tried three different wireless locations. I tried the Limewire test suggestion, http://www3.limewire.com:6346/, and got “Your test worked!!” I use Internet Explorer 5. In preferences I have no sites listed in “restricted sites zones” and “trusted sites zones,” I enabled Apple MRJ, and I disabled all Java security options. I set Norton Antivirus to “no protection.” There is no firewall icon in the Limewire window. I installed MRJ 2.2.6 from Apple’s website. I rebuilt my desktop, erased Limewire preferences from the system folder, restarted my computer and re-launched Limewire several times and let left it running for over an hour to no avail. I’ve installed Limewire for the first time so I have no shared files. All Limewire does is display the status: “Quality: Connecting.” I am using an older Macintosh while my newer computer is being repaired. What am I doing wrong? |
