![]() Hi everyone. I have been having a problem connecting lately. First off, I have LimeWire Pro, 4.12.11. Next, when I start LimeWire, I get two error messages, both saying "LimeWire was unable to set up a port to listen for incoming connections. Some features of LimeWire may not work as expected." I've tried deleting the preferences folder, but had no luck. Here's all the info that I can tell you. 1. OS version? Windows XP 2. What firewalls you have? BitDefender and The Windows one 3. How much ram? Umm, dunno 4. Hard Disk space available? Dunno 5. Connection type? Cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Linksys Wireless – G 2.4 Ghz… WRT54G (dunno about modem, unless that is the modem… I have no clue about this stuff…) 7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW: 4.12.11 PRO Java: 1.5.0_10 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? US Cable 10. The test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. NO 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Semi new. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP enabled 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? BitDefender, Windows 16. What country are you living in? USA Last edited by Chickenman; June 11th, 2007 at 06:36 PM. |

![]() Don't use 2 software firewalls together, they'll interfere with each other. Choose 1 & configure it to allow LW, turn the other one off. Rather than using UPnP, try port forwarding for your router. The instructions are here. Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54G Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address first. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within a router must all be the same number. |

![]() I turned my computer off last night, and went to bed. Now, I turned my computer on this morning, 14 hours later, and it's working. I don't know what caused my problem, but I think turning my computer on and off fixed it. Thanks for all your help Birdy, and sorry about the spamishness private messages. ![]() Thanks again, Chickenman (I'll remember where to go if I need to bug someone about LimeWire ever again) ![]() ![]() ![]() ^God I love your smileys. ![]() ![]() Ok, I'm done. |
