Default Limewire used to work perfectly but not it only gets one bar. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

ive been using limewire for about six months without any trouble then one day it wouldnt connect. it just continually says its connecting but it never goes past one bar. ive tried addind it to my computers firewall as well as mcafees firewall. nothing happened so i tried turning both of them off and still nothing happened. ive also tried adding ports to the firewalls. another thing i tried was port forwarding but i got to the part when you have to put the ip address into the address bar on your web browser and an aol with google search page came up and said it was a bad request. if you can help me from here that would be great.

windows xp
windows and mcafee firewalls

Ok a couple of things to try...Try each fix until one works...

Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Also you will need to configure the McAfee security suite and limewire correctly, here are the instructions...
Port Forwarding for the McAfee Security Center

Your router also has a Nat Firewall and you may need to Port Forward..
Here are the instructions...
Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54GS

ive tried your java suggestion and nothing happened. as for port forwarding, i get to the part where you have to make a static ip address. when you have to put it in the web browser address bar an aol/google page comes up saying it was a bad request and has other suggestions. none of these suggestions have anything to do with the ip address. im gonna call my isp tommorow to see if they started blocking limewire recently but if that doesnt work then im back where i started. does anyone have any other suggestions?

Don't run the Windows & McAfee firewalls together. If you've got McAfee configured for LW, turn off the Windows firewall

ive already tried turning them both off and that didnt work so i tried one at a time and still no connection. i really think port forwarding will work if i could just get it to work so if anyone can help me with that it would be great. ive also tried phex, which i believe is also on the Gnutella network if im not mistaken, and that had the same problem as limewire. i was just wondering if another program on another network would be better. if so, what would that be?

Hi kowchpotato.
Reading back on what you said,

"an aol/google page comes up saying it was a bad request and has other suggestions"
Dose this mean you also have OLD AOL security still on your computer.?
Sounds to me that could be stopping you setting up.

AOL 9 Client Reported As Badware And Dangerous

AOL 9.0 was reported as badware by StopBadware.org, an organization supported by Harvard and Oxford universities, as well as Google, Sun and Lenovo. This means that almost every AOL user received a bad product.

According to StopBadware.org, the free version of AOL 9.0 has earned the badware title because: it installs additional software without telling the user; it forces the user to take certain actions; it adds various components to Internet Explorer and the taskbar without disclosure; it may automatically update without the user’s consent; and it fails to uninstall completely.
