Limewire Pro: Still Connecting!? 1. I have Windows XP Media Center Adition 2. What firewalls you have? Verizon Internet Security Suite 3. How much ram? 512 im pretty sure 4. Hard Disk space available? Plenty 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Whatever Verizon FiOS provides. 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.8.1 Pro Java 1.6.0_01 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Verizon 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says "Your test worked!" 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Semi experienced, just upgraded to Pro 13. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Yes 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall :) All of them, Firewall, Pop-Up Blocker, all that mumbo jumbo 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA Well, I have just upgraded to Limewire Pro. Now, I can never establish a connection ever since I upgraded. On the lower left hand corner of the screen, it's been saying "Quality: Connecting" for about an hour now! This never happened with Limewire Basic! Please help :bangh: |
yanks96 Hi That java version is a three legged donkey to XP so roll it back. Now! Go to, START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs, now completely remove all versions of java. Re BOOT Your computer NOW. Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down. Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 When Download is completed. Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java. How to use Manual Port forward Universal Plug and Play may not be working properly Due to this update. "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)" Removing this update is not Recommended & could make your computer vulnerable to attack. For more info on this update, click on this blue link. If you are using a router to connect, that will also need configuring.
