Angry Limewire Pro: Still Connecting!?

1. I have Windows XP Media Center Adition
2. What firewalls you have? Verizon Internet Security Suite
3. How much ram? 512 im pretty sure
4. Hard Disk space available? Plenty
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Whatever Verizon FiOS provides.
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.8.1 Pro Java 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Verizon
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says "Your test worked!"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Semi experienced, just upgraded to Pro
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Never seen it in Pro, only in basic version
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Yes
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall All of them, Firewall, Pop-Up Blocker, all that mumbo jumbo
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA

Well, I have just upgraded to Limewire Pro. Now, I can never establish a connection ever since I upgraded. On the lower left hand corner of the screen, it's been saying "Quality: Connecting" for about an hour now! This never happened with Limewire Basic! Please help

yanks96 Hi
That java version is a three legged donkey to XP so roll it back.
Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Blue Link to get "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 12" Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one, 4th one down.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

How to use Manual Port forward

Universal Plug and Play may not be working properly Due to this update. "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)"
Removing this update is not Recommended & could make your computer vulnerable to attack.
For more info on this update, click on this blue link.
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-019: Vulnerability in Universal Plug and Play Could Allow Remote Code Execution (931261)

If this update is installed on your computer & UPnP is in use by Limewire,
Try switching to Manual Port forward using port numbers between 45000 To 65000
Both Manual Port forward No, & listening port should be set at the same number
In LimeWire, GO to Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config & use Manual Port forward.

If you are using a router to connect, that will also need configuring.
Find your router listed here, Use this blue link. & dont forget to create a static IP first, & click apply after changing each setting.

Your Servant,
Peace.
