![]() First off I would like to say hello I am new on the forum and found that this is the best place for help with P2P problems for my limewire. Most computer forums are filled with people who look down on people who use p2p programs such as limewire and close your forum as soon as you mention it. So here is the deal. 1. OS is Windows XP SP2 2. Windows Firewall and A firewall in my modem 3. 512 MB ram 4. 105 GB of space 5. DSL 6. Westell DSL2 + Router, E90-610010-06 7. Househeld PC 8. Limewire 4.12.15, Java 1.6.0_02 9. ACS Alaska 10. When I go to the website provided this message. The connection has timed out The server at www3.limewire.com is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. I tried access it again and got the same message. 11. Not sharing with another p2p program 12. This is not my first time using limewire I have used it for a couple years but it is the first time with my DSL internet. 13. Yes and I know that means theres a firewall blocking, even though my firewalls are all closed 14. UPnP is enabled I tried the Port Fowarding. 15. I have Defender Pro Anti-Virus, The Firewall was a seperate disc but I un-installed it. 16. Alaska, USA I'll start from the top. Limewire will not connect. I used to use Dial-Up from the same ISP so I don't think my network blocks P2P networking. Both my firewalls are turned off, and the config for my modem is set to allow gnutella. XP is installed twice on my computer so I'm not sure if thats the problem. I have tried many of the ways to fix my problem with ways on the forums here. I just spent 3 monthes fixing my connection so it would download updates, and programs, and it wouldn't even download songs from itunes. That has since been fixed. But still no connection for limewire. If anyone can help me please help. |

![]() Double check that the XP firewall's allowing LW. User Cant Connect - LimeWire Did you use that same version of Java when you had your dialup connection? I'm using that one without a problem but a person had trouble connecting yesterday & it was solved by changing Java version. So, you could try this version instead. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version before you install this one. Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Also try this: Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. If you can't access the test page, something's blocking LW's default port. Could be your ISP (maybe since you moved to DSL). Their Acceptable Use Policy does mention copyright infringement. http://www.acsalaska.com/Cultures/en...Conditions.htm Try changing ports. In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or something in the range of 49152 - 65535) > Apply > ok. When you set up port forwarding before, did you use instructions from this site? PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall Have a look in the router index there. They don't have your model listed but there might be another Westell with the same config pages as your router. Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address, if that's part of the instructions. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number ![]() |
