![]() This is what UK bob has suggested... I have looked through ibizavaio posts and, although I am not familiar with Vista, I do not see anything wrong with processes running before or after a program starts or ends. I have noticed on my own XP PC, when checking Task Manager, that LW will start up a process before the LW program starts running. I have also noticed that when LW is started for the second and subsequent times after being closed down it will start up slightly faster than before. I'm guessing that there may be some processes that keep running until the PC is switched off (or this could be a Vista "speed enhancement" feature [Grandpa maybe able to throw some light on this point]). However, processes running before the program properly starts, i.e. awaiting user input, is the way I believe windows works. For example, I am sure that you have pressed an icon for a program and windows seem to do nothing but you notice the hard disk light flashing. At a guess, I would say that windows is setting up the pre-program processes before giving you the program to use. UK Bob So after saying that it leads me to believe your problem lays with Java... Vista doesn't have to run on 6.2 it can run with earlier versions... Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version.... Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Let me know if that helps...
