For example, the lower corner says starting connection the entire time and the lowest bar is green. I can not search for anything because it says it is still connecting to the network.

I'm new here just like you kbostic, but they cannot help you fix your problem without knowing the details of your computer system. Did you even click the link birdy provided? If you answer the questions to the best of your ability, it will help them help you.

I think I know the problem with my limewire connection. I see on the bottom corner of the lime wire menu (right by the connection screen) that it says a firewall is detected. I have taken the firewall off of my computer though, do you know of any other firewall that would be on my computer?

I still have a firewall up as well. I just left LimeWire running for a couple hours and I came back and it was connected. I still have a firewall up so I'm not sure if that helps or tells you anything.

The firewall's probably associated with the school's internet setup. To check what port LW's using go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. You'll see LW's listening port there. If the school are allowing p2p use, go back to the Technology Department & tell them what port your LW's using (the default port is 6346)...they might be able to help you out
