Default Wireles Router D-Link DSL G804V can't access limewire

I can't access the limewire network. I have a wireless router D-Link DSL G804V. I tried setting up the virtual server with port 6346 no luck.

In desperation I borrowed a netcomm router from a friend which got me working straight away.

Is there any issues with the D-Link DSL G804V?

I have no idea whether that model supports UPnP, but by the sounds of it, it does not. Port forwarding sounds like the way to go. But yes, you WILL need to set up a static ip FIRST. Otherwise the process simply won't work at all. To set up a static ip, see PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall. Then for port forwarding see Port Forwarding for the Dlink DI-804V. Remember, a static ip MUST be done first, otherwise the port forward rules will be useless & should be deleted. Port forwarding is based on ip number so if it's dynamic, it simply will not work after it changes. It's best to do a separate port forward for each of TCP & UDP. But it's ok if you click for both options in the one port forwarding.

Default Configuration different on the links supplied

Thanks for the prompt response. ( your configuration is different on the links given). I just discovered that UPnP is enable on the router (I can see the 'Internet Connection' Icon in My Network Place. I made sure my PC had a static IP.

Under the Edit 'One to One NAT' page I noticed there was a few entries made automatically for port 6346. There must be something else missing.

My d-link router (I no longer use) had a reboot option. Have you tried rebooting your router. I know if I made any changes to the settings in the d-link, it needed to be (1) saved & then (2) rebooted. Your model might be different I don't know. The port forward page is totally different to mine. But mine used mac firmware.

Default Yes I re-booted the Router.

Hi, I have been reading some of the posts and done the re-boot thing.
I have the 'behind firewall icon' in limewire, There is only one little green bar trying to connect. Nothing is displayed in the connection tab and the test http://www3.limewire.com:6346 comes up with page cannot be displayed. I have several PCs at home (Windows XP, Windows 2000 & a Notebook Windows XP) installed it on each one they all can't connect.

I have read the instruction guide for the router cover to cover. I also tried searching for any clues on the internet with this model. I also check that I had the latest firmware. This new D-Link model will not work ( I just hope someone with the same router has a solution).

Well .... others have had D-Link problems too. Port forwarding fixed their problems. My d-link model is about 3 years old now I think. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...4g-router.html were my instructions back then.

Default I have tried with several port no 6346, 6347 etc

Hi,

I did it step by step and even rotated the port numbers tried 6346, 6347, 6348, 6349.

I will relsolve this by getting my friends Netcomm modem or using limewire at his place. I will remove the sotfware from my computers. Thanks for all your help. It is a no go for D-Link G804V...
