Default Have to Reset Modem, every time!!

While downloading (mostly movies), I loose my internet connection completely. No email, no internet, no nothing.

I am on a laptop with a netgear router and twc cable modem.

I go unplug the modem, and plug it back in. Boom im back online.
Now ive lost most of my downloads though.

I do alot of my movie downloads at night, and in the morning, No connection and no Movies. Its pi**ing me off!

Please advise.

Thank you

Mikeydiker

1) Have you tried updating your modem's firmware?

2) Have you talked to or contacted your modem's help desk?

Default Updating Modem's Firmware

MD

I can't tell you specifically how to update the firmware for your modem but I presume it is somewhat similar to mine, the Thomson SpeedTouch 585(i)v6.

First you have to go to your modems website and download the latest firmware/software and, if not part of modem's facilities, download the installation wizard. Now, at this point, I have to mention that you must be the modem's administrator, you must be connected to the modem and you are strongly advised to make a backup of your modem's configuration settings.

OK, now run the wizard (you may be prompted to tell the wizard where on your HD the firmware/software is located), reboot your modem, reinstall your configuration settings (because these are usually lost during the upgrade/update process) and that should be that.

However, before attempting any of this you should have a quick chat with your modem's help desk to see if the firmware update will cure your problem.
