Hi Cslack27

First of all, I will apologise for the very simple questions I am about to ask you, as you are an experienced person, but I am trying to build up a picture of your particular problem.

1) You say that you have UPnP enabled on your modem/router, have you also enabled UPnP on Limewire?

2) Are you the administrator for your modem/router, i.e. you cam make configuration changes without any problems?

3) Have you tried to "port-forward" your modem/router?

4) Are you connected to your modem/router by a patch cable or wirelessly?

5) Do you use any other protective applications apart from the Windows Firewall and AVG Free?

6) Have you initiated UPnP and IGDC (Internet Gateway Device Control Client) within your WinXP Pro?

Once you have answered these questions I may be able to suggest a few things.

UK Bob

PS. Some people have run into difficulty using Java 1.6.x but found that Java 1.5.0_11 works as expected.

I've heard of it but can't find where to enable it in my WinXP Media Edition

I too am having Issues getting connected. I've checked the support FAQ out and followed a few of those steps already and still can't get connected.

1. OS version? WinXP SP2

2. What firewalls you have?I have NoD32 Total Security Admin pack Allowed LW

3. How much ram? 1024 gig ddr

4. Hard Disk space available? 50 gigs free

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem= Motorola SB5100 No Nat Settings to configure, its a gateway nothing more. Linksys = BEFW11s4 with UPnP enabled, IP Pass through enabled, tried port forwarding still no luck.

7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW4.14.10 this is a new install on home system, using same version at work no issues. =/ Java 1.6.0_3 (was using 1.5.0_11 and upgraded in hopes it would help, no such luck.)

9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Mediacom

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? My Test works! (at least something is. lol :P )

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. There is another computer on the router but it isn't turned on and hasn't been for several days now.

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I'm an experienced user with LW but this is my first install of it on this PC.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? I have the windows firewall disabled, and have NoD32 admin to allow LW, I've even gone as far as disabling the firewall in the admin of NoD32 and still have the stupid brick wall...

What am I forgetting?

Hi Cslack27

My screen print below will show you how to enable IDGC in WinXP, it may help to give you more control over your modem.

Also (SparkShark as well), it may be an idea to check if you have an "ICMP" facility in your modem, if you have you should try turning it off and on to see the affect, if any, it has on Limewire. I understand that this facility, if implemented in your modem, can make the difference between LW having or not having an internet connection.

Hope this helps.
