Default If you're having problems connecting <b>POST HERE.</b>

1. OS version? Win XP SP2

2. What firewalls you have? Just Windows, but have disabled it during attempted fixes.

3. How much ram? 1024MB

4. Hard Disk space available? 60GB

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Motorola SB5100

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Home. LW was working just fine 2 days ago.

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...). LW 4.14.10 / Java 1.6.0_03

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Mediacom
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? "Your test worked!"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No.

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Experienced.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image Yes, brick wall, even with Windows firewall fully disabled.

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnP. I've checked my modem's admin page and there were no options for forcing a port.

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall AVG, but it's turned off during resolution attempts. Wasn't causing an issue before either.

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA.

Please note that everything has been hunky dory with LW up until 2 days ago. I've ensured the port was listening for 6346, I've made certain LW was on the exception list, I've added the port number manually, I've turned the firewall off completely, I've updated Java RE, I've deleted Java RE & then updated, I've deleted my LW preferences folder, I've deleted LW & reinstalled, I've created a Proxy server and forced the port to look to the proxy to connect (to bypass my ISP, in case they have suddenly stopped allowing P2P networking) and lastly, I've restored my System to a previous restore point.

End result? LW loads just fine, but won't connect. One green bar, brick wall over globe and a never changing status for what is going on 4 hours now.

The only changes I've made to my system recently have been MS updates that included .net framework revisions, but I would think that dropping back to a 2 week old restore point would have fixed that...

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

mr_inside_outski

It's probably one of those AT&T rolling blocks on P2P, in which case it will go away in two to three weeks.

I think Verison could be a lot of the problem. See Link below. They are mentioned alot in this thread.

ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

I tested the port (Port Authority, for Internet Port 6346***) and it says port 6346 is open. http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ now tells me 'Your test worked!' as well. Still cannot connect.

Yep, I've already done this. Still no luck. Hence my confusion.
