Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. ![]() xoxo802, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOUT. Make sure that your XP firewall's off. Double check the LW rules in McAfee, or even remove the current rules & add new ones. Next, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location). Fixes for LimeWire This will change all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later. Some people have had connection problems with some of the later Java updates. You can either try updating to the latest version here (I have this one & LW's working fine): Java SE Downloads or try this older version, which has worked well for lots of people: Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Whichever Java version you use, download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions before installing another one. Who is your ISP (the company that you pay for your internet access)? Your modem/router (you might have one or both, or a modem-router combo) is a box that plugs into your computer & lets you connect to the net. It'll have lights on it. Have a look at all the things that plug into your computer. If you can't see a brand & model on top, look underneath. If you're connecting wirelessly, the modem/router could be in another room. 11Westwood, Rather than disabling the XP firewall, turn it back on & configure it to allow LW. User Cant Connect - LimeWire Next, delete the prefs folder & try another Java version like I told xoxo802 to do ![]() What's the model of your Netgear router? If the fixes above don't work, go to the site below. Find your router model, click on that & then choose LimeWire from the list of programs...you'll find step-by-step instructions for setting up port forwarding. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall If setting up a static IP's part of the instructions, don't miss that step. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router should all be the same number. |

![]() linz321, What fixes have you tried (that haven't worked)??? It's not a good idea to run 2 software firewalls at once...they'll interfere with each other & you'll end up being less secure ![]() Look at my post #8, delete the preferences folder & change Java versions. If you decide to update to the latest Java & can't connect - try that older Java instead! Deleting prefs folder & up*******changing Java are 2 fixes that often work when someone starts having problems out of the blue. Your ISP is the company that you pay for your internet access (eg Tiscali, Pipex, Virgin). Who is yours? Do you have a box with lights on it that plugs into your computer & lets you connect to the net? If so, have a look for brand & model. kaos0051, Same deal for you as for linz321...choose either McAfee or Windows firewall. Not the 2 together. Make sure that there's not a Windstream firewall causing problems. Check the thread below ![]() http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 (or you can try other ports in the range of 49152 - 65535) > apply > ok. Restart LW & see if you can connect. Your Java version's a bit old. Update to one of the versions linked to in post #8. If UPnP's enabled on the Siemens, try port forwarding instead. |
