These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. ![]() Hi. Many folks are having the same problem. It appears they hosed something up in the latest version. I had the same problems. I even went so far as to completely disable my firewall and change all my port setting in LW. No help. This version is just plain broken. The good news is Shareaza still works, using the exact same ports. The problem is not the firewall or port setting, it's Limewire itself. Download Shareaza and use it until the problem is fixed. |

![]() If my earlier suggestion is unable to resolve the no-connection problem, please try out the following steps: (1)Open Limewire program. (2)Click "Tools" (on the Limewire program) (3)Click "Options" (4)Click "Advanced" (5)Click "Firewall configuration" (6)Click "Manual Port Forward" (i.e. dot it). (7)Click "Use UPnP (Recommended)" (i.e. dot it) (8)Click "Apply" (9)This message will be displayed:"One or more options will take effect the next time Limewire is restored." (10)Click "OK" (11)Click "File Association" (12)Uncheck "torrents" files (i.e. remove the "tick") (13)Uncheck "magnet:" links (14)Recheck "torrents" files (i.e. put back the "tick") (15)Recheck "magnet:" links (16)Click "Ask me what to do when an association is missing (i.e. put a dot within the circle) (17)Click "Always take the selected associations." (i.e. put a dot within the circle) (18)Click "Apply" (19)This message will be displayed: "One or more options will take effect the next time Limewire is restored." (17)Click "OK" (18)Click "Performance" (19)Check "Disable Ultrapeer capabilities" (insert a "tick" there) (20)Uncheck "Disable Ultapeer capabilties" (remove the "tick") (21)Click "Apply" (22)This message will be displayed:" One or more options will take effect the nex time Limewire is restored." (23)Click "OK" (24)If the brick doesn't disappear by now, turn off & restart your computer. (25)Open Limewire program & wait a minute or two for the brick to disappear. (Sometimes Limewire will display some instructions for you to adjust the Limewire program. Just click "Next" till "Finish") (26)If the brick doesn't disappear, CLICK "Options" >""Advanced" > "Firewall configuration" & copy down the "Listen on Port" number (this number often changes). (27)Next, CLICK "Start" (Windows) > "Control Panel" >"Windows Firewall"(Classic view) > "Exceptions" > "Add Port" (28)Type Name as "C:\ProgramFiles\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe" (29)Type in Port Number & select "TCP" (put a dot within the circle). Click "OK". (30)Click "Add Port" (31)Type Name as:"C:\ProgramFiles\ LimeWire\LimeWire.exe" (32)Type in Port Number & select "UDP". Click "OK" (33) Click "OK" to close "Windows Firewall" (34)If the brick doesn't disappear, then go through Steps (1) to (24) again. Very often my Limewire Program isn't able to connect to the Gnutella network. I'm using the above method as well as the other method in my first post to sort out the problem & most of the time the brick wall will disappear & the bars will turn green. If you're unable to connect to the network after you tried the 2 methods that I've suggested, perhaps one or more files in the Limewire program you had downloaded are corrupted. Search & remove all Limewire files & download the program again. If the problem still persists, perhaps the faulty Limewire program that you had downloaded earlier is still hidden somewhere within your computer or has replaced your newer Limewire download. I don't know the steps to search for the faulty Limewire program (i.e. in case it's still hidden within a hidden file) & remove it and perhaps a reader who knows how to do it will share his or her expertise. If any reader knows of another method to resolve the problem, please post your solution. Thanks! Last edited by philip251912; November 17th, 2007 at 06:41 PM. |

If it's still stuck, try replacing the gnutella.net file (see the threads in post #4, the bottom thread has very basic instructions point 7 onwards). That's worked for quite a few people. If that doesn't help, give us your details. System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!!(click on link) |

![]() To Tavapoo: I suspect that your very first Limewire download, which is probably corrupted, is still hidden in one of your file folders & has automatically taken over each of your newer Limewire downloads. In other words, your latest download has been cancelled out (replaced) by your very first download. Try to search for all hidden Limewire files in all locations & remove them before downloading a new one. Also, restart your computer a few times if you continue to see the brick wall. And close all webpages (i.e. don't surf the Net while the Limewire program is opened) & check whether your hard disk (C:\) has sufficient free space. Lack of free space can affect the performance of the Limewire program. On one occasion the brick wall disappeared when I transferred some of my files from C:\ to D:\ . Also scan & delete any virus from your computer. Anyone who can help out Tavapoo, please post your suggestion or solution. Thanks! |

![]() Did you replace the gnutella.net file (within LW's preferences folder named LimeWire)? Do you use a modem or router? Look for a box with lights on it which connects to your computer & lets you connect to the net. If you're using a wireless connection, the modem/router might be in another room. In LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 > apply > ok. You can also try other ports in the range of 49152 - 65535. If you can find your model in the list here, try port forwarding. PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall Click on your modem/router model & then choose LimeWire from the list of programs. Then you'll see step-by-step instructions for port forwarding. If setting up a static IP is part of the instructions, don't miss that step. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router setup should all be the same number ![]() |
