![]() ok, i'm not a computer expert by any means. all i know is my limewire application is usually always working, except now it's stopped connecting, never getting past the first bar. i've had some issues like this in the past, and they were usually firewall issues, and those incidents were always fixable. but this time i have no clue. please help me out, experts. here's my specs... Windows XP Limewire 4.14.10 (most current version, to my knowledge) Java 6 Update 3 (most current version, to my knowledge) i'm on my own Linksys broadband router, Wireless-N, WRT300N my windows firewall is always turned off, and i don't have Norton or any other alternative brand firewall active. so, it seems like it can't possibly be a firewall issue, but i have no idea. the only firewall that appears to be on is the one under my personal linksys router page. but this has never been a problem before, and i never mess around with those preferences. so for whatever f'n reason, limewire still won't connect at all. it seems like it was just working fine about a week ago. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks. |

![]() Try the advice here: all of a sudden will not connect (a fix to try) Read that thread carefully ![]() Start off by deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. You'll know if you've deleted that folder properly...when you start LW, you'll go through the setup wizard again. Were you able to conect ok before using the Java 1.6.0_03? If nothing there helps, please give us your details. System details - help us to help you -> Provide these details when you post!!! When LW was connecting properly, did you see the firewall icon (brick wall inn front of the blue earth)? if so, you could try port forwarding for the Linksys. The instructions are here. Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT300N Don't forget to set up a staic IP addess first, or port forwarding won't work. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router should all be the same number. |

![]() Did you check the Show hidden files & folders BEFORE you did the search? That can make a difference. Check both options 2 & 3 here Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link) as it might be in a different location for you. |

![]() well, i created a static IP and a manual port forward on my linksys page. nothing happened after that. then, i did manage to find and delete the .limewire file. i accidently realized my limewire app was still open when i deleted it, (which apparently is a big mistake), so i deleted the whole app and redownloaded it. hopefully that won't be a problem. the manual port forward is still the same, and everything appears to be the same otherwise. am i supposed to replace the .limewire file with something else? i don't really know what to do next... |

![]() If no settings changed & everything was still the same, the preferences folder wasn't deleted properly. Installing a new LW doesn't have the same effect as deleting that folder ![]() Try again with LW properly closed. As LOTR said, you should look for a preferences folder in both locations (check the 'fixes for LimeWire' link in LOTR's post). You don't need to replace the .limewire folder with anything...just delete it and delete the other preferences folder also, if you have it. If you're a bit confused, read this post: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...tml#post296782 If your LW isn't connected at all, you'll probably see the brick wall anyway...my brick wall never disappears until I get past the 'starting connection' stage (more than 1 bar of connection).
