![]() First off, this only happens when using Limewire, and has not occurred with any other program. My Antivirus/Antihacker firewall is properly setup, and I can connect just fine. The problem is, as I said, that every few minutes at best, my connection from the router drops and has to reconnect. (DSL) Is there a setting that needs altered that is causing this? It started when I upgraded my version to the newest version. |

![]() Kjmarket First off, there is no setting as such within Limewire that can make your router behave itself, the software is not really concerned about your Internet connection all it wants is that you have one. Secondly, I know that when a router is stressed, i.e. trying to work outside its capacity, it will disconnect for a split second and drop all connections. Now, this will happen if you have two or more computers trying to download at the same time or, possibly in your case (and theoretically), LW is trying to download at a rate your router cannot handle. The only way you can really know is to speak to your router's help desk, they should be able to tell you if your machine has the capability to do what you want it to. UK Bob |

![]() I already know enough about my router, so no phone calls are necessary, and this is partially my router, partially limewire. Obvously Limewire isnt compatible with certain routers anymore, or they just need half decent documentation concerning this issue. All routers have limits, and a P2P prog has to be able to be configured to run according to these limits. Limewire doesn't seem to be able to do this. I never had problems before I upgraded, now my router, which isnt even a year old, can't handle it. I can download using utorrent with no problems at much faster speeds then I ever get with limewire, and I can use every other P2P prog I've ever run across with no problems and the few that gave problems, were easily configurable to make work. I don't see how 1 download at around 10KB a sec when it drops is too much to handle. I can get a crap speed like that and still disconnect every time. Does anyone have any idea what about Limewire could be overworking my router? I have everything setup fine and nothing is exceeding my routers limits, or even coming close. |
