![]() I've had LimeWire on this computer before and I never had any problems with it, and I had Windows Live OneCare w/ it's firewall on and had Windows Firewall off and LimeWire worked great. But I had to do a recovery on the HP Laptop cause it was very slow and occasionally had the blue screen of death, but anyways, I read to leave LimeWire on for a long time and the connection would get stronger I have had it on for the last 2 days and I still only see the single small green bar, My ISP doesn't block UPnP, My Linksys Wireless Router is configured for UPnP , I have tried the whole proxy thing that didn't work, I allowed LimeWire through the firewall, then I tried turning the firewall off all together, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it several times, Java is up to date, my incoming and outgoing protocols are set on the firewall, I completely uninstalled Norton when it was put back on from the recovery, I completely uninstalled Windows Live OneCare, I tried deleting the directory for .LimeWire but I couldnt figure out what the dude was talking about cause on Vista the isn't a C:/Documents and Settings/User Name/.LimeWire ( and blah blah delete the directory) the only thing there is Start/Computer/C:/User/your user name/ there is a LimeWire file but it isn't .LimeWire or LimeWire. now when you go Start/Computer/C:/users/your user file/AppData/Roaming/ but there still is no (.) anywhere in the LimeWire file title ( so I have no clue at all). I need to know if anyone knows of any other program that interferes with LimeWire? I've tried just about everything on here and nothing has worked. Here is some more info just in case HP dv6000 laptop with Windows Vista Home Basic Intel Centrino Duo 2.0 ghz 1 gb ram 80gb hdd linksys wireless router ISP: Atlantic BB High Speed Cable. LIMEWIRE HAS WORKED BEFORE WITH CURRENT SET UP but There maybe another program on here that i removed before and that is why it worked then but because it is there it doesn't work now. Any Help is greatly appreciated. |

![]() I got LimeWire working, go into tools/options/advanced/network interface/ then click the box that says use a specific interface, then scroll down and make sure you put a dot in the circle beside your IP address underneath your network connection.....for me it says Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network connection...... (most likely this circle already has a dot in it) but if it doesn't then you'll want to click it. But after I did everything that I did before and nothing worked I tried this one thing that I had read in a different Thread and it worked. When I first did this it didn't work at first but after 5 minutes the connection was at full strength. I also replaced the gnutella file in the LimeWire Directory there is directions on this in one of BIRDY'S threads titled If LW Will not connect. But the instuctions are a little unclear because some of the Folders he wants you to click into doesn't exist or Birdy missed a few steps. He refers to a file called (.LimeWire or LimeWire.) which there isn't a file with either of those titles ( at least on my comp) But anyways I'll give exact directions or how I did it. First you want to go Start/All Programs/LimeWire/Uninstall....Restart the comp....Then after it is back up and running GO Start/Control Panel/Programs and Features and uninstall all Java files....then GO Start/Search and type in LimeWire and make sure you click search everywhere and delete all LimeWire Files And search for Java and delete all files in the same fashion as the LimeWire files......restart the comp.....Then after it is back up go to java.com and download the recent version of Java Environment 6 update 3...the offline file.... after it is downloaded turn off your internet either by turning off you wireless card (laptop), turning off your modem or router (DSL and Cable) or disconnecting your dial-up connection. Then install the offline Java Version......restart the comp.....then go to limewire.com and download the newest version of Limewire......restart the comp.....then go to gnutella.net and download the file (send it to the Desktop so it is easier to find).....Then GO Start/Computer/C:/Users/Your User File/AppData/Roaming/Limewire then delete that gnutella file then minimize it and open the recycling bin and empty that sucker, for some reason that gnutella file will relocate back to the limewire folder and conflict with the new one you are gonna put in it....then maximize the limewire folder and drag and drop the new gnutella file into the Limewire folder then that is all for that step.....restart the comp.....then start up Limewire and complete the process i discussed earlier......then close Limewire completely by clicking exit on the tool bar and then start it back up....then go in to tools/options/advanced/connections/ and click the box off that says connect at start up........click apply and ok then exit limewire again and then start it up again.......then connect it and then your done.....like I said before it may not work right off but let it set it for a while.....if it doesn't fix your problem then I have no idea.....look around you might find a solution in other threads............Happy Limewiring....... |
