![]() I've been using limewire pro for years without a problem.. Yesterday, I tried to connect and it sees a firewall that will not allow it to connect... The only recent change since my last good connection has been an install of the new trend micro internet security... it always worked w/ the older version. I have set all its preferences including listening port # and allowed program to allow limewire. Even when I turn off trend micro and have no firewall active (even windows) ............limewire still detects a firewall. I checked my router and it is using UPnP. My ISP is att. which has always been good before. Does anybody have a clue where this new mystery firewall is coming from. |

![]() Ditto that. Sorry this is my first post, but I am here because of it. I upgraded to the new version 4.18.1, and now I get the firewall icon...AND only the FIRST tiny bar goes green...AND when I try to search it tells me that "LimeWire is connecting, and you will have fewer results until you are fully connected". I've uninstalled and reinstalled 2x, and have used my laptop at MY place with the usual wire connector AND at my parent's house with their wireless. I have never had a problem at either place in the past, and no changes to the router or modems. I am getting peeved...this is putting a dent in my pern downloads. ;^) |

![]() FIXED! On a whim, since I was just going to delete LW, I decided to try SOME of the recommendations. Now, seriously, many of you people berate us newbs because we "aren't doing this or that" and "aren't using the search function"...take a step out of your mighty box and approach it from our position...there are hundreds of thousands of instructions, and MOST are prefaced with "you aren't telling us any information". ANYWAY, THIS worked for me: Shut down LW, went (through My computer) to find the ".limewire" folder, and JUST DELETED THE MOTHER F-ER. When I tried to open LW again, it ran me through the preference questions and asked me to designate my save/share folders. I am on a laptop with XP, have no idea what Java is, no clue what modem, ports or routers I am using...all I know is THIS WORKED. Thanks to whoever first posted that tip without calling us all retards...seems to me if this many people have the same problem it's time to fix the problem and not the user. Now...back to my dirty searches... ;^) |

![]() Thanks for your input..people are rude everywhere..so don't let it get to you...just remember there's still lots of good to be found...! As for the Limewire Bug...that's peculiar regarding the preference folders.. I thought that I had tried a complete retinstall w/ new folders and preferences..guess I didn't delete the old preference folders (ie.downloads) I did give up and went to Frostwire...same thing w/ a different graphic theme...no probs there....If it goes wanky I'll reinstall Limewire pro... Peace out and "dltmfgyd" (clue:1st d=don't..m= mother....last d=down) |
