Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Default cant get connected tried the sticky not (got a new computer)

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) windows vista i am the adminstrator
2. What firewalls you have? norton internet secruity (limewire set as an exception) and windows firewall also got an exception
3. How much ram? not sure
4. Hard Disk space available? 64gb
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) cable
6. Modem & router brand name & numbers? dont know
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? home
8. What version of LimeWire line wire 14.16.6 java 1.6.0_03
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? bell
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? it says your test worke
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? no
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. experienced user (just got new computer)
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes i do click here to see Sample image
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? dont know
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? norton
16. What country are you living in? canada

i just bought a new computer and i downloaded limewire and it wouldnt connect then it connected (i dont know what i did) and i downloaded a couple songs now it will not connect i tried eveything that was on the sticky note and it still wont connect

Don't use both Norton & Windows firewalls together - they'll conflict with each other. Turn off the Windows firewall & configure Norton to allow LW. Restart your computer.

If that doesn't help, find out the brand & model of your modem/router...they often have their own internal firewall & that might be why you can't connect. If you connect wirelessly, the router might be in another room. If nothing's showing on top of the device, tip it upside down & have a look underneath!

Also, go & find the gnutella.net file (as it says in the sticky)...what size is that file?

If you're still stuck - did you delete the prefs folder & try an earlier version of Java?

I Downloaded a film on Ares and I cannot see it i can only hear it.
What can i do to fix this problem?

I also want to know what program is good for downloading movies.

i tried turnin off the windows firewall and that still didnt work my modem is a motorola sb5101 surfboard cable modem and the gnutella file is 27kb
