What's going on? (thousands of new shared files/folders)

Yesterday I lost all my "Limewire" library, it simply disappeared!!! And since then I have the feeling Limewire is not the same anymore! For eample in the library I have now thousands of shared files/folders I never asked for, and the folder is called "!" any idea how to solve the problem?
I already uninstall and re-install Limewire but it didn't change anything

Yea, sounds like your infected. Try the Fixes below that 6 Pac suggested.
Try AVG First

It's probably a virus. Try the fix in this thread: To fix the limewire keeps popping up / no taskmanager bug do the following

AVG(free) might be able to fix it. Be sure to update it before you scan your computer: AVG Free Advisor: AVG Anti-Virus Free, then follow the prompts.

Thanks! I am already scanning my computer with Avast, hope it'll work with that one!!!

It may, but I know, for what ever reason, AVG will correct this issue, when Most other AV's Won't.
So if no luck w/Avest then try AVG. It's Free and when your done you can just uninstall it. Good Luck

well, apparently it didn't work! I did what you told me, I followed the instructions everything went well, but when i restarted the computer a little box from limewire telling about a failure although i hadn't reinstalled yet!!! AVG works the same as BFU?

Downloaded AVG, it healed 6 viruses, but it still doesn't work properly and this box Limewire with message : one or more files appear to be invalid. Comes from a corrupted installation and tells me to download and install Limewire. And then there a messages like "limegroup.gnutella.gui.guiloader/ startup failure etc.... Any idea where does that come from as I had uninstalled Limewire? What should I do???

If your using OS XP go to Start > Search > All Files/Folders. Type in limewire and then search. After search is complete Delete anything and everything that it found. Also download CCleaner from here. www.ccleaner.com. This will help clean up a lot of unwanted or unneeded Crap. Will also clean the Registry.
