The preferences folder isn't named "preferences"...it's named LimeWire. Check out this thread below...there's info about finding & deleting the folder. Also other fixes to try for connection problems. If nothing there helps, post back with your system details (there's a link within the thread which explains which details we need).

4.16 versions should have a 'performance' option within Advanced. But you need to click on Advanced to open it further, so you can see the options within.

I actually found the preferences...they are in Documents and Settings/.limewire. I deleted the whole .limewire folder per another member's suggestion, and that solved the problem, at least for version 4.16. I afraid to even try to update to the new version. No program should be this difficult to navigate, to be honest, but it's working now.

Admittedly the new version has been trouble-some for many people, with some major changes. We do our best here to try to help solve the mysteries behind how to solve these issues for people. It's not always the same answer for everyone because everyone's system & devices are different. So many variations in set up where one of those areas has started to cause an issue with connection.

But definitely for the new version of LW, it seems you are best to delete the old preferences folder as a first step to solving any new problem.
