Firewall blocking and 1 bar

I just purchased the new LW win after already having LW pro 4.18 because the pro wouldn't work. No connection and it says firewall is blocking. I have disabled the firewall with MacAfee put in the exception with Windows Vista and still no luck. The LW win won't work now either. HELP!!!!!!

Just in case you did pay for the free basic LW - contact your bank/CC company. They may be able to stop the transaction from going through & will be able to let you know whether you should cancel your card.

No I didn't pay for basic I got the LW Pro and today I bought the LW 4.9 thinking it might resolve the problem, it didn't. Same problem.

Did you buy 4.9 Pro?? 4.9 versions were released in 2005...old versions aren't for sale on the official site. To me, it sounds like you were scammed. The only official site for download of any version is Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

I thought it was weird that the LW Pro was 4.18 and the LW Win was 4.9 but the way they described it, it sounded good. I am going to contact them and stop payment. But the LW Pro is still not working saying I am not connected to the internet or a firewall is blocking.

I don't know where you got your versions from, but if it wasn't from the official site then there's no guarantee about the quality of those versions. If I were you, I'd uninstall what you have now & then download an official version. Just the basic free one.
If you install a new version then you'll lose whatever's installed now...so if you do want to keep that Pro that you downloaded earlier, make sure that you've saved & backed up the installer.

Installing using that link will get you an official version, it's just a different download link to what's posted on the site's download page. There have been some probs with corrupted installations recently & that version should avoid those probs.

Once you've installed the new version, if it's not connecting - go through the 'if LW will not connect' thread in post #2. Try those fixes & if nothing there helps then we'll need your system details

I don't know what happened but when I started up LW today it worked!!!!! I contacted the place I ordered the older version and told them to cancel it. We'll see what happens.
